I went yesterday and took a few friends. Ok, I took one friend, my sister took three, but I had a good time anyway. We left the house early yesterday morning and got there around 11:30. We stood in line for a while exchanging the vouchers. It wouldn't have taken as long if my dad had handed them his pass from THIS YEAR to compare to the vouchers. After we got that squared away, we stood in line at the gate for less than 5 minutes. As soon as we walked in, my friend, mom and I headed for the bathroom (the coffee was a bad idea lol) and my sister, dad, and her friends went to get a spot in line for the saloon. We saw the 12:30 show and I caught up with my pal, Rachel (Ms. Roots) afterward. After that, we went to FITH, which so happened to be one of my sister's friend's first roller coaster, and my sister wasn't even there for it (she's afraid of the dark, don't tell her I told you  ;) ) After that was PK, then WF, then we went to House of BBQ for lunch. It used to be a lot better in past years, but I was hungry, so I didn't care. I did enjoy the live bluegrass music while I ate lunch. I kept saying "I know that song" to about 80% of the songs, and my sister's friends were like, "Wow", but my friend and I have been really close since second grade, so she wasn't surprised. During lunch, one of my sister's friends (the only one I don't get along with) said, "That first place we went to was gross." We asked her what she was talking about. "The one with peanut shells all over the place." Oh, the saloon. "Yeah, it was gross." Her bf said, "Its just peanut shells. And its a saloon. Be happy the floor was the dirtiest thing there."   :-\
On that note, we finished lunch and everyone went their own ways for a while. Me and my friend just wandered around and looked in some shops. We met up later at Lost River, then rode TNT to dry off. We wandered some after that to finish drying off. We planned on leaving around 6:30, but we got to the Hospitality House around 6:30. My friend and I bought matching garters, then went to Ozark Marketplace which means we didn't leave the park until around 7:30-8 o'clock. I wish we could have stayed for GAC Nights, but we needed to be home kinda early because me and one of my sister's friends are in a play at our church today and we had to be up early to rehearse.

We bought the USB thing at PK for $24 and every picture they upload to it is only $8 and can be reused everytime you are at the park. The guy selling it said, "You can go to Walgreens and get as many copies as you want for 26cents each, but I'm probably not supposed to tell you that."  :D  Pretty good deal if I do say so!

The lines weren't too bad, but longer than usual.

I'll try to put pics up later.

So it costs EXTRA to get the SDC pictures on it? Making the USB 24$?? If that is the case  :o :o :o I think I will just stick with my tried and true GI JOE dogtag flashdrive.

Sounds like you had a great time, you couldn't beat the weather!
So I am trying to understand the USB is 24 alone and if they take a picture of you with the photographers and you want it it is $8 per photo loaded on it?
Is the USB drive special in any way? As in does it have an axe on it or logo or something?

tiffanylynnt

It has the logo on it. If you do the math, depending on how many pictures you put on it, the USB really does save money in the long run, but if you only do one or two pictures every now and then, I probably wouldn't buy it.

My hubby and I had a great time at the City on Sunday for Day 1 of our anniversary trip. We left our hotel at 8 am, we were at the parking lot by 8:15ish. By the time we were parked and had ridden the tram in it was almost 8:30 so we didn't have a long wait until the gates opened.

First stop was the Mill for breakfast. Yum yummy! Fresh, hot, and delicious. We ate enough so that we didn't have to stop for lunch later in the day. By the time we were finished at about 9 the sprinkles had all passes and the sun was coming out for the day. Went behind the rope for the last bit of early ride time.

We pretty much made the loop around the park a handful of times riding all the rides as we came to them. There were few to no lines for a good part of the day. At about 1 or 2 pm the crowds picked up a bit, but we were told it was nothing like the crowds had been on Saturday. We rode the train at about midday. Got some glimpses of the new ride as we rode past. It looks so much more epic in person than it does in pictures. I'm even more excited now! I tried to snap some pictures, but they didn't come out very good. The fake threat this time during the train robbery was the Cleveland Indians instead of the New York Yankees. It has been years since I heard that one.

Some of the most fun we had all day was standing by the water cannons at Lost River. The ride attendant in the tower was pretty funny. He called out to just about every boat with some funny remark or another, got a lot of laughs. He would also tell those manning the cannons the best time to shoot. Nailed quite a few people. It never got old. Hahaha. We spent quite a bit of time watching there.

Finally got hungry at about 3 pm. Sat down on the square to figure out where we wanted to go eat. Got to hear the end of the Sons of the Silver Dollar's set at the gazebo. They have a new guy in the group as the tall redhead has moved on. They did a good job. As soon as that was over a fight broke out between the Hatfields and the McCoys right there on the square. There was a funny mention of the History channel program that got a chuckle from us. Decided on eating at the Mine. We weren't impressed. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't particularly good either. At a little after 4 we decided to run back to our hotel for a bit to change into some dry clothes.

Made it back to the park a little after 5, grabbed some ice cream from Hannah's and made our way down to Echo Hollow for the show. I felt a bit bad for the cast, having to perform to such a low attendance crowd. But they did a good job. Having grown up attending in the 90s I was accustomed to the funny-man Jim Dandy, but I must say I really enjoyed Jessica. The magic trick had me scratching my head for sure. Does anyone know anything about her and her husband's magic ministry? It sounds interesting.

All in all we had a good day at the park. Didn't go today. Had a great time on Ride the Ducks. We're coming back tomorrow with some friends. Peanut brittle is buy-one-get-one 50% off right now, so I'll be getting at least two bags tomorrow before we leave.
"Red Flanders, you come back in here and put on your pants!" "Well Sadie, I ain't got no pants no more. The dang Baldknobbers stole 'em!"

Great review, Ozarks Gal.  Now I'm hungry for peanut brittle!

I had forgotten all about the Indians version of the story!  Thanks for the reminder.

We went on Sunday 6/3 and didn't ride anything (very rare).  We spent the day running from show to show as did many other people. Either people got up and left shows early to get to another show or they arrived late (into the 2nd or 3rd song). We did that, too, because we want to see all 3 of the Grascals shows and all of the Monroe Crossing shows. I saw D.A. Calloway a couple of times and was going to tell him the major shows need to have a 15 minute break between starting and ending times but he, too, left early at times to go somewhere else.

We also saw parts of Bull Harman and Bulls-Eye, Jerry Butler and the Blue J's, the Rigney family, and Sons of the Silver Dollar. Also saw the saloon show and I made my comments about the show in the saloon show thread.

My husband got a brisket plate in Red Gold. I had a few bites of the brisket and I did not care for it at all. He liked the beans and the potato salad. The rolls were tough. We were going to get a plate from Dickey's but they had run out of rolls.

Was surprised at the low amount of merchandise left over this year at the Frisco Barn and the BBQ sauce booth. There were discounts on Sunday but we didn't see anything we had to have.

Gilligan

We hit the jackpot at Frisco Barn on Sat. - large thermal mugs and serving platters for $4 ea.  Yay!  They must have sold most of it that day.  Red Gold was chaos! It was hard to get thru the doorway because of the line at the food vendor just inside the building.  Once inside, we thought we were standing in line only to discover we weren't standing in line.  There were no clear routes.  The family in front of us (when we thought we were standing in line) left leaving a trail of unmentionable words behind them. Yikes!  :o  We decided to go to Riverside Ribhouse instead - the ribs were surprisingly good and it only took a few minutes to get a table.  By 4:00, it was crazy crowded so we decided to leave.  On the way out, we made a quick - but, no so quick - bathroom stop.  The line was steadily moving, BUT the only wheelchair accessible stall was being occupied - for at least 20 min. - by a woman nursing her baby and talking on her cell phone!  Geez lady, could you have chosen another one?  Several very pleasant guests were speaking loudly about it in hopes of luring her out, but it didn't work!  But anyway, that was the only unpleasant part of my day - that - and no more samples at the Taffy Shop.  :(

biscuitcreek

Yeah, I forgot to mention that -- no more samples at the Taffy shop. :( :'(
