Quote from: hollijo on June 03, 2026, 05:43:37 PMI guess in August when SDC makes the announcement you guys will finally see this is not a thrill machine and Insted a Thunderation replacement. But in the meantime believe what you want lol  ;D

The announcement will be in September. If you're going to try to convince people online that you know something, it's best to at least use the correct (already confirmed) dates.

*IF* I were someone looking for information (like what type of coaster and supplier), *I* would keep an eye on the import lists.  *I* would also keep an eye on the trademark clearing houses if *I* wanted to know what the ride was going to be called.  But that's just *ME*

You have your homework, class dismissed

Checked USPTO, no ride names as of right now, but there are several trademark registrations tied to restaurants and shops, most likely for the resort/hotel.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Restrooms
May 18, 2026, 01:28:08 PM
Yesterday was my first visit this year that included a stop at the renovated restrooms by Time Traveller.

I'm a bit disappointed that in a theme park that is supposed to be for families, they didn't seem to prioritize little kids in the bathroom renovation. Particularly with this being the closest restroom to the train, carousel, and treehouse, it seems like a real oversight. None of the urinals are at a kid-friendly height, the sinks and soap dispensers are equally out of reach for kids. All the other bathrooms have at least 1 little kid height urinal.

I already sent a meesage to SDC about it, but wanted to see if anyone else had noticed this or had thoughts on it.

Something I keep thinking about is the new coaster is effectively blocking the main path where SDC could add additional land to the park. I was really hoping part of this 10 years of projects would include an additional "land" out that direction to help increase park capacity. It feels like this will really lock them into more or less the existing foot print meaning that almost all new rides in the future will require replacing an existing one.

I'm thinking it will be mostly demolished, they might leave a few pieces but I think they want that location for something else.

A thought I had today, what if all the mine talk is actually about the mine restaurant being re-opened.

I do see the tnt area being used as space to help with a new entrance. It will likely also help with some back of house space needs as well. Possibly some warehouse/delivery space or bus parking for guest artist tour buses.

I really think the plan was to keep it open till 2028ish but something accelerated that timeline. The comment about it being open at coaster Christmas in 2027 really felt like a that will be the last Christmas for it to be open message.

Quote from: sdcfan88 on December 17, 2025, 03:06:48 PMI was about to post something similar. My window of opportunity is either this Friday or Sun-Mon. Personally I was thinking Monday would be the lightest day to go but with Christmas being on that following Thurs and winter break starting that might be moot, so yeah which day do you guys think would be worse to attend? I know better not to do Sat. Lol

I ended up going on Friday the 19th. The crowd was not bad. I'd guess about 13,000 people for the day. I was surprised it wasn't more crowded. I think it was because it was cooler on Friday and supposed to be a lot nicer this week

if the kids want to do coasters, yes a Trailblazer would be worth it this weekend

It does seem like they are blocking one of the main paths for a park expansion with this project.

Tomorrow should be a pretty good day to go for shows/lights/train.

Quote from: Swoosh on October 29, 2025, 11:24:21 PMI guess I didn't realize there was a launched Mack Minetrain let alone one in the States.

I stand corrected, I thought there were some launched minetrains in the US, but I was incorrect. As I dove into this the only mine train I am finding that has a launch is Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Train at Hong Kong Disneyland. Are there others I am not seeing or is that really the only one?

Quote from: Swoosh on October 22, 2025, 04:27:52 PMI have zero proof to back this up but honestly putting together the pieces I don't see this can anything other than a launched (because that's all they've built lately) Mack (because they seem to have fallen in love with that company) mine train (just going off the teaser image shared at FanFest and the loud rumor that TNT is being removed).

I'm open to debate on why my guess is incorrect but honestly I don't see how it will be anything else.

That certainly seems likely, but what of that would be first of it's kind in the US?

Got a survey today from SDC/Hershend. It was mostly focused on the economy and your travel planning. It asked a couple of questions about optimism vs pessimism for yourself, the US, and the world. Also asked for specifics on why you think the country will be better or worse in the next 6 months.

I'm pretty pessimistic about my personal financial situation as well as the US in general. I've been looking for a new job for over a year and only had a couple of interviews that didn't go past the first round.

That said, I am trying to be hopeful that SDC won't cut back on the resort and new ride but from this survey, they seem to be trying to gauge how concerned about the economy and how likely to cut back on spending their customers are.

One last thing that stood out was they asked specifically if you had been to SDC, Disney World, Disneyland, or Dollywood in the last few years or plan to go in the next year. It just struck me as odd that they only included those 4 parks and not any others(particularly Universal)

Construction/Rumors / SDC Fanfest

How's everyone feeling about fanfest?

What was your favorite announcement?

My overall thoughts: it was alright, the announcements were about what I expected(although I thought they might have a new show or two next season). It felt like they are trying really hard to be more like Disney.

My favorite announcement, probably goes to the pretzel cheese bread. Getting some interior renderings of the resort was a solid second place.

One big question I was left with was with the announcement about the showboat, they said the ramblers would be moving there, so will they not be in the city at all next year? What will they replace them with?

Other thoughts: I think a men's button down shirt in the merch bag pattern would be fun.

I'm curious how you all define the difference between a theme park and an amusement park?

What all would you consider theme parks in the US?

Obviously Disney, universal, SDC, and dolly wood are all theme parks.
I think holiday world is another clear theme park as well as Hershey park.

I don't think any six flags park(including cedar fair properties) would count as a theme park in my mind.

Quote from: mg on August 13, 2025, 02:13:10 PMMaybe we will get some info on September 27.

I'm betting nothing or a vague more things coming soon for this project.

Probably will be mostly about the resort and season passes for next year, maybe a new show.
