Does Flarum have a way to react to posts without commenting?

I frequently want to thank people for a post or just give them a thumbs up, but donít have anything substantial to say in a comment.

I too enjoy perusing the archives. And having some discussions with fellow fans away from the mess on Facebook fan groups.

I appreciate that even though we donít all agree here we can do so respectfully and have good discussions about a park we love.

Some alternative train robbery shows, it would be really fun if they had different versions that tied into the festivals.

More street performers.

Scavenger hunts.(a new one for each festival)

An augmented reality tour or tours of the park(you could have a history one, a behind the scenes, numbers geeksÖ) that would work from within the app and as you approach a certain part of the park it would launch a short audio clip telling you about that area.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Next new ride, next to go?
« on: April 20, 2024, 09:05:49 PM »
Iím really hoping for an omnimover ride or a trackless ride. But I donít know that either of those are very likely.

I think they have 1-2 moderate projects(retracking thunderation could be one) then a resort, then a new area.

It doesnít mean they canít make a bigger train station, itís possible they remake the flooded mine in a new location and then have room for an expanded train station.

Iíd also like to see something done for the train station/line. I know itís usually only really bad at Christmas but it makes everything in that area so congested.

Looking at the new fire district on the map and after seeing it in person, it sure seems like the pathway outside of fire in the hole was built with a future expansion in mind.

Iím thinking itís set for future expansion of a connection to outlaw run/hi low silos area. Obviously there are backstage buildings in that area that would have to be relocated. Itís possible this could go all the way through next to the opera house to make a big loop.

My other thought is that it could be a future back entrance for resort guests.

That path over to outlaw run would be big enough to be a whole new land/district. If they are adding a new district what would you like to see?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Nathanís hotdogs
« on: March 30, 2024, 07:58:04 PM »
Help an old guy out and let me know if Iím losing my mind. They used to have Nathanís hotdogs for the hotdogs, pretzel dogs and tater twists, right?

I remember in years past at the hot dog places them having signage proclaiming that they used Nathanís hotdogs, I didnít see that this year and the pretzel dog I had was definitely not a Nathanís dog. It wasnít bad but just didnít have the flavor of Nathanís.

Construction/Rumors / Festival survey
« on: February 29, 2024, 10:14:13 PM »
Got a survey today with 2 festival options they are looking at to replace street fest.
Most of the questions I got focused on the flower and food fest, then they showed the great America exhibition and asked which one I preferred.

Iím a huge fan of street fest so it going away is rough. I was hoping with it going away theyíd bring back world fest. Out of these two Iíd prefer the flower and food, but Iíd really like something more like street fest or world fest.

Do you think the park will tear down the FITH building this spring or leave it standing for the 2024 season?

Iím not sure. They usually seem to have a leave it till they need to remove it approach, but it feels like it would be good for them to get it down in the offseason to help shift the focus to the new fith. It also probably depends on the timeline for what will go there. If they want whatever they are putting in that space to open in 2025 then it would seem like they do some or all of the demo this offseason.

My guess is the building stays up and gets demolished in Jan-March of 2025 and we see something new in that area in 2026. That said, I wouldnít be shocked if it is gone before then.

It feels likely. They have really been trying to reduce congestion and improve flow through the park the last few years and the line for the train makes that whole area congested.  I don't want to see Flood Mine go, but I think it really is time for it. I hope that it will get a similar treatment to Fire in the Hole and get remade with something very similar to the original but with a few updates for reliability and ease of use.

SDC posted this comment on Facebook yesterday about connecting the path from the opera house to Wilson's farm. I know they said maybe but it sure makes me think that is the plan.

Branson Talk / Re: 2nd Chick-Fil-A open
« on: December 28, 2023, 02:03:25 PM »
I honestly do not get the whole Chick Fil A deal.  I have eaten there a few times and it is OK but not something I would flock to like it seems people do.

Haha.."flock to"...

I'm not a big fan of their food, but I don't hate it either. It's fairly expensive - but I've never had a bad experience there, the drive thru (even with long lines) moves fast and efficient. So, I think most people are there because of that? My preference on fast food chicken is KFC or Popeye's because I can get potatoes and gravy...I love dipping my chicken into kids however hate Popeye's so I have to eat that alone.

I live in a city with CFA right across from Popeyes, I like Popeyes food better but with 3-4 cars in the Popeyes drive through it takes 45+ minutes to get through. at chickfila I think our location usually does 80+ vehicles in that same 45 minutes. So count me in the it's the service/speed not the food group. the KFC's in my city seem to be just clean enough to not be shutdown for health code violations.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2023 Crowds / Trip Reports
« on: December 22, 2023, 09:01:37 PM »
not many trip reports from the holiday season -- has the sparkle left the world best holiday display?
or is it the economy, bidens fault? trumps fault?  just seems strange -no highway horror stories or glowing reports...

any Ideas?

my two cents...

Went last Sunday, it was busy. Very busy. Saw Santa, the parade, and lights.
I really wish they would add a little more to the parade.
Decided to pay for parking when we saw how busy they were so we could walk to our car easily when we left.(when we left we felt very validated for making that choice)
Santa was fantastic as always..

The bells were a nice addition but it felt like a missed opportunity that they werenít moving.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Bus/Tram/Parking/Accesability
« on: December 14, 2023, 11:27:07 AM »
Iíve found myself wondering if tied to the parking renovations the park is doing, if they will at the end of it make any changes to the trams/buses. It seems like they have added a lot of handicap parking spots in the lots they have redone(maybe itís the same amount but it feels like they added more). The trams and buses arenít very easy for many handicapped people to get on. So Iíve been wondering if they would be making any changes to the trams to be more handicap accessible. It seems like a ramp and a strap system for wheelchairs would be an easy thing to add to the trams. And maybe a portable or retractable step to help people that canít step up as easily onto the tram.

I also wish they would only use the trams and would not use buses. I think they could add some type of wind/rain screen thatís removable to the trams.

Iím curious to hear other thoughts on this.

Gyser Gulch should come back at the resort.

Does anyone know if the original FITH will be demolished before park opening in 2024?

I donít know, but I would expect that to happen in the off season.
