Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC Resort Survey
« on: October 06, 2023, 10:49:37 PM »
I'm very curious about the design options they presented.

I did not get one, I did a guest survey in early September but it was just a general how was your visit survey.

Went Sunday sept 10th. A decent number of people but not too busy at all, guessing about 9k-11k

3 thoughts from this trip:
SDC should really remove a row of seats on the bus at the front for a stroller storage area, with a safety strap that keeps strollers in that area. (It would be nice if the trams has a section too but it’s a lot easier to take a stroller on the tram and sit with it in your row)

The flooded mine has had a rough summer, many effects were not working. I was last on it in early July and most of the ride was working then. Hopefully they can get some fixed the next few weeks.

Sometime in the last couple of months the ozark marketplace was re-arranged making it more of a maze where you have to navigate around displays to get out. It’s no longer two nice clear paths to walk through if you don’t want to shop.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC’s 2024 Project(s) and Park Developments

I want both. I want a flooded mine dark ride with no guns, maybe slightly expanded and a remastered audio track…
I also want a separate shooting ride. I think a trackless “stagecoach” ride through the hills/woods in a sherif training course would be fantastic use a modern gun system that works and shoot targets.

Moving the pretzel stand is interesting. Does that mean that building is going to be removed soon for something new down there?

The fire district: will boatworks theater be part of the fire district and/or pumpkin plaza?

I’m a little disappointed they didn’t announce construction starting soon on the resort, but it sounded like Brad mentioned more announcements coming for 2024….. all though that might just be the worlds largest can of Spinich or something equally not exciting.

Yeah the new Tool Booth/Parking/Entrance setup is very reminiscent to Dollywood's, I also expect the park to formally break away from its central theme and have themed sectors like Dollywood or Disney in the near future.

Like an area themed to firemen, an area themed to a worlds fair/grand exposition, an area themed to a river front town?

They are all set in the same time period but they would seem to all be themed sections…  are you thinking they will drop the 1880s as an overall theme and  have some lands set in different time periods?

Other Parks / Re: New Park - American Heartland in NE Oklahoma

The ownership group is... interesting. I almost don't want to get into it all, but just look up the Mansion businesses online and see if you can find much substance.

They seem to be good at press releases and big announcements, but I can’t find much substance beyond that. Are their any film/tv projects that they’ve finished?

I'm not going to hold my breath that it actually happens. If it does, that's cool. But it seems like in the last 20 years most big projects like this get announced and don't even get to the moving dirt phase, or at best move some dirt but stop short of going verticle with construction.  4,000+ new jobs in NE OK would be nice.

I'm curious if it will get SDC to accelerate their expansion at all or if they will continue on their seemingly slow methodical plans for expansion.

I went on the 4th, but didn’t take any pics. There was a little more progress on the facade but not that much from my previous visit in April.

But there has been big progress on heartland home furnishings. The new building looks to be framed(at least all exterior walls, and they had the rafters and plywood all done for the roof. It’s big. It’s more visible from the main path than it used to be.

Today they posted a link to sign up for info and a few minutes ago posted “tomorrow”

My guess is sending out info tomorrow about a press conference the first week of august to finally officially announce the new fire in the hole.

Any tips on seeing the Branson landing fireworks? Best places to watch from, places to park?

From what I read universals sounds like it’s a group tour unless you pay a higher price, it also use’s demand pricing and is around $350-$400 most of the summer.

I’ve never done any Theme park VIP tours. I’d like to someday but for now I don’t have the money to spend on that.

Random Talk / Re: Do some dang research....
« on: June 21, 2023, 10:33:17 AM »
I believe everyone was talking about conversations on Facebook groups about SDC, not the SDCfan forums.

I do try to provide informative and helpful answers to questions on facebook(and here), but the super basic questions like what's the weather like in branson on specific date, how much does a ticket cost, or are they open on specific date... get old quick and they are questions that are quick and easy to find the answer to, when those get asked I try to point them to places to find the answer for themselves in the future. Many of these posts come from people that appear to be under 50 and should be able to perform basic google searches.

Another tease today. They added a V and an N to the frame/book cover.

At this rate I think the announcement will be early July. That volunteers needed for a brand new fire in the hole.

I feel like it goes in a cycle. The dumb questions get bad, people start pointing it out, several sarcastic posts get made, post about how it’s rude to point out the obvious solution of googling those questions, then posts slow down for a while and gradually pick back up till the dumb questions get bad again.

It also seems like June, late September/early October, the second half of November are when the dumb questions peak, which makes sense as those are the times with lots of first time guests.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how many people are asking for dark rides or other rides that are highly themed and good for the whole family to ride on together.

I really like the idea of a grandfathers mansion ride. I picture it being an Omni mover and you get to tour a bigger version of his house with more quirky gags.

Id love a new flooded mine without guns and  keep the song. Maybe a small drop or two but don’t get wet. Just a highly themed fun ride.

If you take the guns out of flooded mine, then they really need a new target shooting ride. Maybe a stage coach ride where you have to defend your stage coach from outlaws, or a target practice horseback ride through the ozark mountains.
