Branson Talk / Re: A Very Barry Branson TV show 2/5

I found it entertaining and generally positive as opposed to Branson Famous. Staged, of course, but still enjoyable and something I was not embarrassed to be watching with my 8 year old, as opposed to, once again, Branson Famous.

Random Talk / Re: Herschend Family Wealth

My thoughts are more on how there person wealth is derived and how much they are attached to HFE. It's privately held I know, but I'm assuming they still have controlling shares or at least interest in the corporation. I'm guessing they get some sort of salary, dividends or both. And is that figure counting value of their assests? If so which are theirs and which are to corporations? I'm not saying any of this out of jealousy or wealth envy either, I am just truly curious as to how they actually "make" their money.

Took me a minute to figure out what an "apple dealership" was.  ;D

Nice story.

Forgot about Pt Royale. And also the homes across Taneycomo, I knew there were some nice ones over there.

Sounds like they've had their share of hardships for sure. May very well be part of the reason they are doing what they are doing.

Branson Talk / Where do the "stars" live?

Watching the promos for Very Barry got me wondering. I've heard some have homes on the golf course off Green Mountain (Thousand Hills?). I suppose some also could live in that gated community across 76 from the 265 intersection. Other than that? I've spent a lot of time driving around in and out of town and haven't really seen any other exclusive looking subdivisions. Anyone have any ideas? Junior?

I don't think Branson Famous reflects Branson in a bad way either. Just the Mabe family.

Hopefully Amazon will pick up the Very Barry show also.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Newbie to SDC Looking For Suggestions

If you are only going for the weekend, then yes, maybe.  ;D. I don't know though I"ve been there before on July 4th and didn't think it was that bad. The 4th wasn't on a Friday though like it is this year. As for places to stay, if you are talking hotel, see this thread:

Sanddunerider does a great job of getting deals on motels for forum members. There are tons of hotels in Branson and chances are good someone on this forum has stayed in almost every one and can probably give you a recommendation if you have one in mind already.  If you are a camper, let me know and I can give you more guidance as that is how we usually travel. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Other Parks / Re: Blue Collar Comedy Theme Park?

Is the theme going to have anything to go with Blue Collar or are they just investing?

I'm thinking you're probably right. I guess next year I will just drive down there before they close for the season and buy them then. It won't take much more time than I spent this year. And with gas at 1.69 a gallon I can almost break even on the $18 in convenience fees.  ;D

Season passes are a good value. So are season passes to just about any other attraction you visit. I'm having a hard time with the convenience fee for no convenience and the fact it took me soooo many tries to finally get them ordered. I have never ordered by phone, but does anyone know if you are charged the convenience fee for that? If not, how can it be cheaper to pay someone to answer the phone and take your order than it is to automate the ordering process on a website?

My main goal behind this thread isn't to bash the park that I love so dearly, but that someone at SDC sees this and addresses the issue.

Branson Talk / Re: Breakfast-
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:05:12 PM »
Growing up we stayed at Treasure Lake, so we had our own kitchens.  On occasions that we did go out for breakfast (other than the city) it would be:
 * Golden Coral
 * some buffet in town in a building shaped like a riverboat (the name escapes me--I have no idea if they're even open now)

Is it on the strip on Green Mountain? I was thinking it was called Docknockers, but I don't think that's right, I'm getting that confused with one at LOTO. Thought it had Dock in the name though.

I did not have any add ons. I also tried many times without success, so it must have been some glitch. I agree with your assessment  of the "convenience fee" as well.  Especially after this fiasco. There was nothing convenient about it.
