American Plunge is getting a whole new walkway deck as well. It’ll be the same path as the old one but it’ll have new boards, supports, railing etc. Glad to see them giving some love to this area. Now all they need to do is take out the old extended queue for wildfire and put a bathroom there

They’ve started to pour concrete for the foundation of the new building/area

I just assumed that because they were gone when I went through the empty lot

They'll probably redo the whole area. The sign for American Plunge and the bridge beneath it were both destroyed (the bridge was probably from the weight of the fire trucks) so I can see them rebuilding the furniture shop and re-doing some of the paths leading to Wildfire/Plunge.

Speaking of American Plunge, it's getting some much needed maintenance on the queue line and drop structure.

It looks like they were almost or already done leveling out the land last week. They had a bunch of pipes and electrical work (understandably so) sticking out from the ground, so I wouldn't be surprised if they go vertical soon.

It was a mess on Friday night when the warning went through. All of us were waiting for them to call for a phase 3 (take shelter) but they called it several minutes after everyone got the warning, which caused panic. It was difficult to fit 15,000 people in the shelter places, with 250 people being crammed beneath the marketplace. I'm hoping with their infrastructure plan(s) that they put more shelters in place, I think this year with Wildfire's roof being damaged and Friday is a wake-up call to them

It's a shame that's all gone. It could have been a lot worse, some of the trees right next to the woodcarvers have scorched marks on it showing that it could have reached that far.

I wonder if they will revitalize that area to where it's less confusing on which path to take to get to Plunge/Wildfire? I know people get extremely confused as to where to go in that area, even if both paths go to the same place.

I was on my way to wildfire to open up the photo booth when it happened. Guess I’m not going down there today haha

This YouTube video has a pretty good history about the failed resort and everything that went wrong with it.

How would you all feel if FITH was simply rebuilt with a new indoor coaster system?

SAME name SAME story, same theme, same coaster style, just with updated lighting, effects, and animatronics. I think while it might not be as splashy as a brand new IP - it could end up being a great draw for the millions of visitors over the years that have enjoyed it. Advertising a refreshed and updated Fire In The Hole might lure those that remember it over the years to return to the park.  Just a thought.  FITH was the initiation of many coaster enthusiasts and regular folks too and I feel they would support it.

another two cents
Kevin
With the way Swoosh was teasing the RMC powered train for the FITH replacement this is what I thought they'd do.

Didn't TT have three trains though? I could've sworn I saw two trains running a few weeks ago.

Anyways, yesterday the park had around 19,000 people there and it was PACKED. Pumpkin Plaza was busy the entire night.

Here’s a view of the land clearing behind Fireman’s Landing, viewed from Pumpkin Plaza. Pictures can’t do it justice of how much land this is taking up. Wish I could get better photos.

Does anybody know the length/width of the engines (and tender for 504) and the wheel dimensions/ If not, do you think the fellas at the roundhouse know? I need them for an upcoming project that I've been wanting to do for a while.

I don't understand this whole "it's all about the $$$" argument. Like.. yeah. That's the point. SDC is theme park. It's meant to generate money. SDC was started to make money with the Hershends, hell even with Lynch and his cave tours. If a ride that's 50 years old and is decayed to the point that it'd be easier to make a new one, then that's what they'll do to save money. Sure it'll aggravate the long time fans. But how many of them would stop coming? A decent bit at most. But all of that doesn't matter because SDC can advertise a shiny new ride and attract more newcomers than old comers leaving. I'll miss the ride for sure, but I'm excited for its replacement.
