In fact there is a lot from the 1900s in the park, but it looks old so people except it.

Speaking of that, it seems like I read on here that the big red taffy machine in the Taffy Shop was actually built in the 1950s, or some where close to that time frame?

Now back to theme, I think it is more about fooling your senses and coming up with gadgets and inventions to hide the theme. It would be impossible to keep every modern element out of the park. Andy Miller said that it should fall in the realm of the past. In other words not everything is from 1880 and before. In fact there is a lot from the 1900s in the park, but it looks old so people except it.

This reminded me of the weird "1930's-tractor-made-into-a-paddle-boat" in the canal along the queue for Wildfire.  What a great idea!   It's definitely not 1880's but it fits in with WF's wacky inventor theming.

Hear ye!  All guests to SDC shall hereby ditch their newfangled talkin' machines, digital watches, weird hairdos, and basketballs.  Anyone entering the City shall be dressed in official 1880s garb, right down to the bloomers and long johns.

All the visitors to Silver Dollar City are from the future. They need help from Doc Harris, and a bolt of lightening to time travel back to the year 1985, or uh uh, I mean 2010.  :P

Me, I'm the Doctor's Companion, so my anachronism should be excused. 'Sides, who else has a cellphone that can get reception from anywhere in the universe?

Several years ago we went down to SDC one fall for the Salute to the Great American Cowboy.  My 17 year old son and I decided to get into the act so we both dressed cowboy.  He walked around the park all day in his boots, hat, western shirt and vest, and had a BALL.  He was just reminiscing the other day about how many people stopped him and asked him questions, obviously mistaking him for a citizen, and both of us got offered employee discounts on more than one occasion.  It was lots of fun.

Anyone else  think the Doc character is a little scary for kids?

We were with my nephew and niece (5 and 2) and they both started crying after he tried to talk with them. We saw at least 4 other kids start crying, too!!

I thought it was kinda funny, but I can see where he would scare them. My nephew asked me "is he drunk????"

Do you mean Doc Harris? Nah, I think he's great. I dunno how those kids could be scared...

Here's pictures from last Sunday's trip with Tinaalsgirl.  It was a perfect day, small crowd, no long lines (except the funnel cakes!)  I've included MOST of the "Did You Know" signs, the new street troupe (Snake oil salesman), & a couple of shows, enjoy!

Don't like Hate that shot of the graffiti.  Where is that?  I've always been proud that SDC doesn't have much of that garbage, or gum walls, in the queues.  I hope they clean that stuff quickly upon finding it.

YES!  All the dates were from the weekend of (   ) weekend in March & forward.  Most was girls, not like in the old days, and we caught 2 in the act, waved the ride attendant down.  Front car, Wildfire.  I posted the pic on purpose, because I know SDC marketing checks my pics!

Remember kids, giraffes are okay, graffiti is not! Perhaps we can get Tom Sawyer to stop by, and teach these children some white washing techniques?

Other than that, great pictures, and thanks for sharing! I thought the “Did You Know” signs were an interesting touch throughout the park. :)

Did Terry Sanders play a different character every 30 minutes, or what?  ??? ;D

I was a little surprised at the Snake Oil costuming. Snake Oil salesmen were supposed to be more "Professor Marvel" than "Cowhand Bob". But I love that they've got the street troupe back in action!

Great pics. Really wish I could be there.

The main reason I post so many pics, is for people that can't afford, or can't make it, to the city.  I'm better with pics, than words, :)
Terry is busy with 3 characters, deputy, balmer, & professor.
