Uh, we're done.  School called off for the last two weeks.  We were to get out June 3rd, but three schools were destroyed in the tornado, and others were damaged.  I don't know what the plan is for summer school or next fall.

Sorry to hear that HB. I know school is the least of the worries right now for all in the areas that hae been affected by the recent storm and tornado damage.

I guess that's one good thing!  It was at the end of the school year which should give school officials time for a plan next year.  What a way to start your summer vacation.

We are wondering what our school populations will be in the fall, so there are a lot of things up in the air right now.

That's true.  My principal thought perhaps we'd get some of Joplin's students.

My school's last day was today, but I haven't been back to work yet.  I'm going in Tuesday to pack things up.

The district has announced we will begin school on schedule in the fall.  They began reconstruction at East Middle School yesterday and began at a couple of other schools (including mine), today.

Summer school begins in a couple of weeks, on schedule, but I will be in a different school due to the restricted status of my own.

As terrible as those storms were, I suppose it was a good thing that they didn’t hit in the middle of the school year, or semester.

The summer break will allow for that extra time to rebuild much of the facilities before fall.

I like to throw this out to all the teachers a couple of times a year...thanks for all you do for the kids. I know that what you do makes a difference!

I completely agree Junior! I would not be the person I am today without good teachers. It is amazing the capability a good teacher has on so many young minds. :)

Almost gotta go back...I am already back daily with sports camps every day, and different duties like updating the website for an hour or two each day. We are scheduled to start our teacher meetings August 1.... so much for the old Memorial to Labor Day thing right?
