WOW, what about the weather this past week or so? (I think it was Thurs Feb 20) it was in the 70s here in STL Saturday was in the low 60s. Friday was nice too.  Sunday was in the 30s and mid week will be high in 20s again.  What a way to end Feb.  Weather lady says March temps will be "below average" save a day here and there.  I havent heard either way what the projected "precipitation" forecast for March is.

Geez crazy weather days continue.

Guess it beats a foot of snow though.  Certainly better than ice.

Yep everything you said Qwed.....  chance of snow here today, Friday, sunday, next Tuesday......  and cold!......

C'mon Spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

It bypassed my area!  -20 windchill tonight.  Snow possible tomorrow and more significantly this weekend.  Poor hubs is working in -10 (actual) tonight working on CWD studies on the deer population, so I guess I won't complain about the cold.

We're supposed to have well below zero temps  at night thru next week Thursday. Many of the days are  close to 0 or a little below. We have at least 30-35" of snow on the ground and have been getting flurries even though it is below zero. I am wishing for Spring to come when it's supposed to and not wait until Memorial Day.

We have tracking snow in Jeff.  Started around 7pm.

8-9" of snow predicted here.  I sure hope it doesn't materialize as I need to have school the next two weeks to prepare (more) for District music contests

They changed our forecast overnight. Now they are saying we might get 4"-7" mix of sleet and snow. Freezing rain is supposed to hit south of me. I hope they are right (as far as the ice missing us). I do hope the ice does "no" damage to anyone. Ice is bad news anywhere.
It was supposed to start around nightfall. Now they are saying closer to midnight.

History Buff

OK, I didn't want to do this, but you guys keep talking about winter weather, so here goes.  From my blog at http://hoggatt.weebly.com/:

10 LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT SNOW

1. Snow was first discovered by French explorer Ponce de Leon, while skirting the coast of Australia in the 1772. Just a few years later, the weather phenomenon had made its way up and around the earth to plague Washington's troops during the Revolutionary War.

2. It has never actually snowed in Antarctica. Snow is actually shipped in on special ice breaker vessels. The operation requires a staff of approximately 3000 full time workers.

3. In the United States, snow is dropped from high-altitude aircraft, including refunctioned helicopters from the war in Viet Nam.

4. In 1912, after battling Congress for three years on the subject, President William Howard Taft, through executive order, outlawed snow in the United States. Later in the same year, Woodrow Wilson was elected president, after successfully debating that "Snow is a fundamental right of the American people."

5. The largest snowperson ever built was put together with the assistance of that giant, fire-breathing, dragon robot that frequents many monster truck rallies.

6. Snow is white because, at its inception, all other colors were being used in the wallpaper industry. The monopoly on colors was disbanded, but the white had clearly been established as the standard and trademark in snow-producing corporations.

7. During prohibition, rogues brewmasters formerly employed by the Anheuser Busch brewery in St. Louis, Missouri, took it upon themselves to develop beer-flavored snow. As a result roads were cleared of the stuff nightly, and school was never cancelled. Three men and one woman were quickly arrested by FBI agents. One man remains alive to this day, after being pardoned by Bill Clinton on his last day in office.

8. The original Empire State Building was to be located a block south of the current structure. It was removed, and the current building was built after the weight of snow collapsed the unfinished framework in 1929.

9. Six polar bears negotiated themselves out of an endorsement contract with Coca-Cola. After a number of successful seasons with the soft drink superpower, the polar bears were released from their contract when they unsuccessfully demanded chicken of the sea be added to craft services on the set of their commercials.

10. Snowflakes have always been proud of two things: first, all flakes have six sides, and second, no two flakes are alike. These facts are based on the continuing debate among republicans and democrats. A compromise was adopted when democrats insisted that all flakes be have uniformity, and republicans demanded individuality. The controversy was reignited, in 2012, when President Barack Obama signed into law the Snowflake Reduction Accord, which states that by 2015, all snowflakes will be reduced to four equal sides. The IRS will monitor each flake through the use of drones. Citizens may report overachieving or maverick snowflakes on a new three billion dollar website yet to be developed.

Back to the weather...  the first round of Titan has crippled Jeff City.  All church services have been cancelled and MoDOT has put out a "do not travel" advisory.  We haven't really got the snow yet, but there is a lot of ice so far.  The snow is just down 50, so it should be here soon.  Don't think we'll be having school tomorrow. :(

Continued bouts of thundersleet  with lightning here in NWA as of 3:30, it is nasty, nasty, nasty. Over 3 inches of sleet that will pack into sheet ice.

At one point this morning up around Branson, there was a severe thunderstorm warning with heavy sleet and 1 inch hail.
