Construction/Rumors / Re: PARK EXPANSION MAP 2026-2030

^ I don't want SDC to turn into Dollywood.  I fully agree SDC needs more indoor attractions but I don't think Bumper Cars should be one of them.  Below is a concept the park had considered doing from a survey done in 2011.  I think this would be a great indoor ride.

Stagecoaster: A team of horses idle between two stagecoaches. Choose your mount and strap into the saddle. Your horse suddenly takes off and you are off at a furious pace, hunched close to the ground. Your pace seems even faster as the landscape whips past you at breakneck pace. As you ride the coaster, swerving left and right, you follow tight curves as canyon walls flash past you, closely hugging hills and gullies, bounding through gulches with the rest of your team. The coaster ride is fast & furious filled with hairpin turns and narrow escapes and despite the urgency of your ride, you find the experience surprisingly exhilarating!

^ I still disagree. We just had the Arkansas State Fair.  You can ride bumper cars there. I don't want them at Silver Dollar City. Just my opinion.

^ Some of your ideas are good; some are getting out of the theme of an 1880s theme park.  Bumper cars?  God forbid another Midway game.  But the Sheriff coaster is not a bad idea.  A full service restaurant would be nice.

Here's the thing, though... do you actually think the resort will bring in more people?  You can already get a hotel room in Branson for under $50/night.  I think this will encourage people to stay on site instead of 5 miles down the highway.  SDC isn't really a multi-day park (in the same way Disney is).  It'll be interesting to see what all happens over the next 5-10 years, for sure!

We were at the park yesterday (a nightmare) and today.  Friday was crazy crowded.  Like a Saturday Christmas crowd.  My wife and I were talking if they could ever get a 30,000 plus crowd in the park.  We decided no because they don't have the parking.  But with the new resort there will be a boatload of new parking places to get more people into the City.  And they failed on so many levels yesterday with the epic crowds.  They are still having issues getting enough employees and now they think they'll find enough to staff a resort?  I see them overestimating what they can accommodate for.  And with the sad state of Branson economy?  I can see them wanting a resort but I think they're being overly optimistic with this thing.

^ Your two cents is not worthless.  However I do disagree that they are losing the theme.  The new FITH may have eased up on the vigilante Baldknobbers but they still keep the story that they set the town on fire.  Sure a lot of the shows they do now are not 1880s specific and I do wish they would bring back some of them that were like the Courthouse Show and the Hatfield Haint.  But I think overall they are keeping the general 1880s theme.

I'm here as well.  I often go back and read the Where in the City threads and still can't guess where the pictures are LOL

^ Agree!  And bring back some of the older shows like the Hatfield Haint and the Courthouse show!

^ Sad.  We went this past weekend and we wouldn't ride it at all even though it used to be one of my favorites.  Sounds like a rebuild is definitely needed.  I hope the planned multi-year revitalization is followed through.

The SDC app shows Thunderation open today with no wait time.

^ I would guess the chances are very good.  I agree that showing every thing would undermine their Grand Opening.

^ Thanks for deleting that, Shave.  It's important to keep this site one of integrity and respect for the City.

^ They can still theme it up if they want to

^ Gotcha.  I forgot that was the new cafe they were putting in.  Thanks

^^ Where is Sadie's Pretzel Cafe located?  It's not listed under Dining on the SDC website.
