We were there too.  Wish I knew you were there; would have stopped and said hi.  I also stood in quite a few lines for fire in the hole but they were very efficient in getting riders on the trains and I never waited longer than 30 minutes.

A few weeks ago we received a postcard in the mail from SDC offering 4 Bring A Friend passes for any day other than Saturday for $20 each and 4 Bring A Friend passes for Saturdays during OTC for $40 each.  I was really surprised to see them offer discount Saturday tickets seeing as how Saturdays can get insanely busy anyway.

I wish they would put a catfish restaurant somewhere.  I've requested this on the surveys they send out.  Maybe they could add them to the menu at the Dockside Grill.  Some catfish, hushpuppies, fries and slaw would be great.  A long time ago they did have a stand at the National Crafts Festival (that now is the Harvest Festival) that sold catfish dinners.

^^ Unfortunately those dance parties draw customers to the Harvest Festival like flies to, well, you know.  :-X

As season pass holders we received coupons a couple of weeks ago for $20 bring a friend tickets.  Since you have to be with the season pass holder to get in we can't help you with those dates but there may be others on the site here that can.  Good luck

^ Ditto

I was extremely torn between BuzzSaw Falls and WaterWorks Waterboggan because I really miss both.

I completely agree with that.  I also was torn between the 2 but eventually picked the WaterWorks Waterboggan because that's one of the first rides my wife and I rode together.

^ Agree!  When our son was little he used to call Danny the "No Piddling Man" because when Danny was in the 1997 video that SDC did one of the homestead women sent him off to do an errand and told him "Come back soon. And remember- No Piddling!"  :)

^ Thanks for the update on the flyers.  I suppose the Gold and Diamond passes have a different kind of barcode that lets them be self-scanned?  Otherwise, what would stop a Silver passholder (like myself) from going through the self-scanners?  Not that I would, of course, but just curious.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC Resort Survey
« on: October 16, 2023, 09:10:19 AM »
^ We usually just get the Guest Survey in our email right after a visit to the park.  We almost never get surveys regarding resorts, etc.  My guess is that they have an algorithm that chooses who to send the surveys too.  The guest surveys we get always ask the question "How many were in your party- including yourself?"  Since we usually just have my wife and I- and sometimes our daughter- then we wouldn't have a party that needed a very large room or suite of rooms.  So, for that reason, we probably wouldn't make a primary list of guests to get an email regarding a resort.  Just a guess on my part.

And the tram  situation was embarrassing. We waited over 15 minutes for one to take us to the park around noon. We walked back to our car at stop 2 around 8:45. Probably took us closer to 10 minutes because of the amount of people walking and my daughter loosing a sock. In that time, we never saw a tram or bus pass by us to go to stop 2 or 3. They were loading busses and trams when we headed down our vehicle but they never delivered any passengers. Took 5ish minutes to get settled in the car and pull off. Still no one had arrived via transportation. I hope they fix things before Christmas because it will be an absolute nightmare if they don’t improve it.

We saw the same thing on our last visit in August.  We got in line for a tram and waited over 20-30 mins before ever seeing one come down to stop 3.  We saw 1 or 2 hit Stop 2 during our wait.  I am not sure if they are planning it this way, or if they don't have workers, but for their 2 biggest festivals, hopefully they figure it out

We were there this Thursday and Friday.  The trams arrived very quickly both days.  Also the line for food was getting long at the Riverside Smokehouse and they opened an additional serving line.  I wasn't even aware there was a different serving station to the right.  So they did great in our eyes those days.

It's still my favorite place to visit.  Yes the Riverside Smokehouse is huge and takes a lot of room but look at how many people it seats.  I've never seen it at capacity and that's a good thing for the park because that means their diners have a place to sit and eat.  They have to go bigger on buildings because they have bigger crowds than they used to.  And believe me I sympathize with those who miss the old days- I've been going to SDC since 1969.  Yes I would be happier if the new exterior part of FITH looked more like the old one but I'm so excited for what they are putting inside the new ride that I can't be disappointed in the look of the outside.  And since they're not yet finished working on the ride who knows what the finished product will look like?
