It's still my favorite place to visit.  Yes the Riverside Smokehouse is huge and takes a lot of room but look at how many people it seats.  I've never seen it at capacity and that's a good thing for the park because that means their diners have a place to sit and eat.  They have to go bigger on buildings because they have bigger crowds than they used to.  And believe me I sympathize with those who miss the old days- I've been going to SDC since 1969.  Yes I would be happier if the new exterior part of FITH looked more like the old one but I'm so excited for what they are putting inside the new ride that I can't be disappointed in the look of the outside.  And since they're not yet finished working on the ride who knows what the finished product will look like?

^ You most definitely have the right to state your opinion about things like this.  You are a paying customer just like the rest of us.  And I agree they do need to do a better job making the buildings look like 1880 but they are still trying to stick with the theme for the most part so I'm very happy with that.

Sounds like I may be in the minority on the forum. I would love to see it upgraded with a new, modern, and reliable shooting system along with an overall update much like what Fire in the Hole is getting. Our family loves shooting rides and is really something that we missed when visiting Dollywood. A fun and reliable shooting ride is very re-rideable.

Now if it was truly upgraded to something more along the ride experience of Pirates where there are a few small drops, more effects throughout, and more of a story, I could get behind that... but I think that the park could still use a shooting ride.

...back to 2024.

It will be interesting to see how the early access goes with those that buy passes during the presale. It was kind of a mess with Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood this year. I am guessing that SDC will adjust their messaging around it to avoid some of the issues that Dollywood had with it.

I agree with you.  We love the guns too (that is when they work  ::))

I know it had it's issues but with the tower still there I would love to see a return of a revamped improved Wilderness Waterboggan!

There were 'special edition' Pathfinder newspapers given out to everyone at the FITH 2.0 announcement event. I haven't seen these posted anywhere else and they contain quite a bit about the overall new narrative story and effects used within the ride.

Thanks for posting those Underdog!

Hopefully they will pay homage somewhere in the ride to Andy Miller, "the founder of the feast", since he was the one that came up with the idea of the original FITH.  The current ride has "Andy's Wagon Works" on a large barrel across from the firemen's restaurant (the one with the Burnt Toast, Scorched Eggs, etc on the menu).

^ Agree!  And Fire in the Hole without the Baldknobbers is not Fire in the Hole.

^ Is that the building across from the Pottery Shop?

^ If they drop the 1880s theme then that is a deal breaker for us.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC now anti branson....????
« on: July 19, 2023, 02:35:49 PM »
^ I'm not sure that Branson is not trying to get away from Branson.  It seems the most crowded area is Branson's Landing and that certainly isn't "old school Branson".  We mainly just go to SDC when we're there but every once in a while we'll do something else in town the day after our SDC Christmas visit.  Are the music shows still going strong?  I would think the attractions like the Ferris Wheel, ziplines, go karts, mountain coaster, etc are doing ok.  But that's speculation on my part.
