I dunno if anyone else has ever had trouble with this kind of stuff, but I ordered an adventure pass for my 4 year old this past winter and now SDC says they have no record of it, so now we're stuck without one.
Last year I ordered one for another daughter who was eligible and never got anything in the mail nor did I get a confirmation email or letter.  However, when I emailed before our trip they said I just had to go to the ticket booth and bring the birth certificate and pick it up there so that's what we did.
Since I didn't get anything in the mail or via email this time either I just figured it was normal and just like last year.  Nope.  They say they don't have it and don't seem too empathetic, either.
I understand they are a business, but I ordered that pass, and if they want to go everything digital they better make sure it works.  So now I'm not sure if we can do season passes or just the 2 day pass as this is another $150 bucks for our family of 6.

Anyway, that's my rant!

My family is considering going to White Water on the next trip down this month.

Reviews online make it sound like it's always busy and hard to find chairs.

No way in heck I'm spending extra on a cabana, so what are the odds of getting chairs with umbrellas if we're there right at open?
Also, there's always different stuff online about bringing small coolers.  What is the policy, really?

Thanks

Well, I have not seen this posted yet so if I missed it my apologies.

The lead character as Scrooge for Dickens (Dave Wallace I believe his name is?) has apparently been fired by SDC (or "let go" as they say to make it sound nice) due to budget cuts. His girlfriend was also let go. These are two faces who have been there for awhile and of course incredibly talented.

This coupled with the news of the Sons means that Dickens must be on the chopping block, since one of the Sons was always Bob Cratchet, wasnt he?

SDC must not like a packed house for dang near every show. Makes no sense.

Hopefully I'm wrong as that was such a great production, pound for pound the best stage show I've seen.

Anyone else hear this?

Hello again all,
Next week I'm visiting, and I'm going to take advantage of the teacher's single day pass deal that SDC has going on.  I will get a free ticket for myself and a half off one for my wife, and my three girls are all under the age of 3.  I usually just buy season passes, but will be upgrading our single day tickets to season passes before we leave instead.  I've never done this before.

Where exactly do you go to upgrade?  Is it somewhere located in the hospitality house/Ozark marketplace in the exit?  I'm sure that the tickets are purchased at the entrance to the right....but I'm not sure of where the upgrade should take place.

Thanks for the tips, and thanks to SDC for recognizing teachers.

Hello all, I realize this is in no way scientific nor can we get a perfect answer, but I'm interested in what others have observed...
Of course this can depend on the weather and school calendar, etc.., but all else equal:

Which days are the "slowest" at SDC?

If I had to order it from busiest days to slowest days, would it go like this?

Saturday
Friday
Thursday
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday

Or some other order?

Wat are some of your favorite small spots in the city? Theres a lot to mention but Ill start...

I love the pathway leading down to and around the knifeshop at Christmastime. Just somethin about it lit up at night, and its never crowded.

Another favorite spot of mine is standing by the ribhouse watching the LR go by.

SDC Memories/ Park History / What IS this song??!

http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=egNeoBBabKw&feature=related

Click on the above youtube link. This is the chain drop song, not sure if its still used. But I cannot track down its title and who sings it (though i can picture a guy who used to sing it live at the gazebo at SDC)
Fast forward to 40 seconds to get the really recognizable part.
I have even emailed SDC...they have no idea. I find that strange. :-\
Hopefully someone here knows it!

Branson Talk / Montana Mike's
December 13, 2014, 10:44:51 AM
I had a big post written out about my experience there, but thought it would be better to sum it all up quickly instead of being too negative:
If you've never been to Montana Mike's and are wondering how it is, I would kindly tell you to go somewhere else.  The food was absolutely terrible.  I was shocked.
Has anyone else been there?  Like it?  Hate it?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Thanksgiving
August 29, 2014, 03:30:34 PM
What is SDC like on Thanksgiving?  Do they have a special dinner, and if so, is it good? What's the crowd like?
The wife and I are thinking of going to Branson over the holiday weekend and would like to spend a few days at SDC if we do.
Thanks in advance.

I've been going to SDC for over twenty years, and yesterday I had an experience that was similar than those before, but it was also very unique.  I haven't felt this strongly about it in a long time.  I had to say it somewhere, so I came here because I know you'll understand.
Thank God this place exists.  Seriously.  Yesterday in the park I had to just stop myself and think about how wonderful a place this really is.  It's unlike anywhere else in the world, at least the world I come in contact with and hear about in the news every day.  We still have a place where God is naturally celebrated, unapologetically worshiped, out there in the open air public for all to see.  There is still a place where people care about family values.  As one mother said, our family is just "better" when we come to SDC.  The best part about it is, amongst all the lights, smiling employees, shows, preachin'...it's all REAL.  It's not fabricated, faked, or awkwardly created.  This park is what it is, and it doesn't give a damn what the politically correct might think.

To me, that's refreshing.
So let's all take a moment to stop worrying about the new rides, the banter about the pros and cons about the food, the types of passes and the weather, and reflect on the magical place we have found here and thank God it still exists.

I'll give a full review at a later date.  Thanks for reading my little rant.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / OTC Shows
November 05, 2013, 09:18:54 PM
Hey all.  I hope to make my first trip for OTC this year.  I'm excited for the different shows there, especially It's a Wonderful Life. I'm also hoping that the Saloon Show has the Christmas theme back again this year? Wanted to know what others' thoughts were on the different shows and which shows you all think are the best?
Also, do the shows fill up quicker than they do during the summer months due to colder weather?

SDC Memories/ Park History / Old artist
July 10, 2013, 02:52:35 PM
When I was a kid for at least a few years in the 90's...probably late in the decade there was a gentleman who used to draw portraits of people.  One year my mom had him draw all of us kids...my three sisters and I, separately.  She framed them and they still hang in the entry way in my parents house.  In short, it was amazing what that guy could do.  The drawings looked like you were looking in a mirror and they were done so professionally in a relatively short amount of time.  That gentleman has not been there for awhile.  He used to hang his umbrella out sorta across the street from the tater patch...kinda by the exit of the flooded mine.  Anyone else remember or know this gentleman or his whereabouts?  I hope he is well.

p.s. these were NOT caricatures.

SDC Memories/ Park History / Old Bookstore
June 14, 2013, 09:19:29 AM
The old bookstore used to be across from the saloon where they do nothing but tintype photos now (Perhaps it was somewhere else before that, but I do not recall).  It seems as though I remember it used to be a lot bigger when I was a kid and I was disappointed as I got older in how small it was getting until they finally moved it and it basically became very small.  Is the bookstore even still around in SDC?  Wish they would have never moved it...it was a favorite stopping point.  But oh well.

And one thing that really bothers me is the the location of the sign.  Outside the bookstore there used to be an awesome painting of a man reading a book, and the caption said "If you like reading, then you'll enjoy our books" or something to that nature and that sign was awesome!  I'd like to own the thing if they aren't using it!  Is it still around?  I hope it's somewhere and I'm just missing it.  Would like to see it/visit the bookstore on this upcoming trip.

Thanks.

Well, it's my first real post and hopefully I'm not offending any of my fellow, more seasoned die-hards.....but...

What was Rube Dugan's Diving Bell Ride?  I have seen it discussed a lot on this forum but I can't remember what it is, perhaps because it was gone before I ever came to the park for the first time when I was 4, 22 years ago?

It seems as though people have some very fond memories of the ride so I am quite interested in it and would love to talk about it with my Father on our upcoming trip and have a little history.

What was the theme?
Where was it at?  (I'm guessing by the lost river?)
What happened on the ride?  Was it awesome?
Why did it shut down?

Thanks to any and all who respond with information about this ride.
