Thank you, Tinmann...

OH NOOOOOO! Carrie breaks the bartender's NEW ST. LOUIE MIRROR!  For all you fans of the lady that covers herself in the picture, the new version is pretty good. So...is there a talking parrot in the cage by the band? Hmmm, last time I looked a season or so ago, I think the parrot was at a shooting gallery in the Grand Exposition. I wonder if the parrot gag made it back to the saloon. Guess I will have to see the show!  (Thanks Swoosh for an awesome report.)

Somebody put them in back in the 1990's, I think. Reagan did visit Branson at one point, so did Bush I. Seems like they were all together in one location at some point, then, as things always change, someone went out of business, and things got sold off and moved. Don't remember the origins of them, though. Sorry.

Dogwoods in bloom here, the daffodils already have come and gone. Trees are turning green again, and the sound of lawn mowers has rung throughout the neighborhood the last two weekends.

Umy and the Goodtimers! Wow! They played from time to time at the little stage on the turnstyle side of the Hospitality House. When we had greeting lines with SDC citizens saying hello and goodbye to the guests this band was playing some good ol' bluegrass and traditional music. At that time, late 70's early, early 80s, it would have been highly unusual to have someone in a wheelchair actually performing in the 1880s area of the park. Umy and the Goodtimes played as close as they could get, and they did a great job. I have done my Jed Clampett shuffle to their music while portraying Junior many times. Thanks for bringing back some good memories. They usually played, I think, during the Mountain Folks Music Festival held each spring. Maybe at a few other times through the year, too. They were not a regular group. They just appeared every now and then.

With the book, you are again in the late '70s. SDC had a board game, some coloring books, and some kids books. Most, if not all, produced by Wiskur and Company located in Harrison, AR. Wiskur and Company may have also done some of the big street maps they had for sale at the time. If you find any of the stuff mentioned, you better hang on to it. Not much exists anymore.

The video pictured above is from 1990. I have a copy. It was about a 20 minute long "Howdy and welcome to the city" type thing. It was more of a promotional video that possibly aired on the Vacation Channel or at trade shows or something, not really a great or wonderful video...but, it does showcase some of our old SDC citizens...like Terry Sanders and a few others we have all come to know and love over the years. Most of the people pictured in the video have moved on, but Danny the Minstrel featured in the video is of course Danny with the Front Porch Pickers.

Ah, that answers the question! I worked at FITH a bit back in the day, loading guests into the queue line. However, I never had time to look at all the stuff on the walls. I do love the artwork, and am glad over the years they have kept it.

I'm sure when the project is complete the area will look wonderful. Trees will grow, it will be very nice.
