Karens?

WHAT DOES KAREN MEAN?
Karen is a mocking slang term for an entitled, obnoxious, middle-aged white woman. Especially as featured in memes, Karen is generally stereotyped as having a blonde bob haircut, asking to speak to retail and restaurant managers to voice complaints or make demands, and being a nagging, often divorced mother from Generation X.

The most famous “KAREN” is Kate Gosselin from John & Kate plus 8

Waiting on final confirmation, but read in a couple places that Bluegrass & BBQ is officially canceled for 2020.

If you look at the boats in the video I linked they really look like the next generation of BSF boats

If you do decide to go, for the love of Buddha don’t post about it online.  The Karens of the World have made it their sole purpose in life to seek out violators and make them pay in their never ending SJW march across the internet

Not sure if I am digging the water roller coaster deal. I was not a fan of Buzzsaw Falls either. I would hope that if anything were to happen they would update this ride either by replacing it with something like but greater or taking it out entirely. No more roller coasters! I know I wont see the last of roller coaster building but yall, I am personally over it.

When you get down to it, is it really that different than most new age flumes?  The only difference is the launches which is something marketable (and we know how SDC loves to have “firsts” to market)

It obviously wont happen for a while now anyway...  I am sure a coaster will go into that spot, just line them up on the west side of the park.

We have the FITH replacement on deck.   We’ll see if it gets bumped back a year but I foresee them spreading the cost over two years again

I submit this as a possibility for an American Plunge replacement.  It’s almost like if BuzzSaw Falls and PowderKeg has a child.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Starbucks in the park?

I'm certain they could have set up a coffee shop location without using Starbucks or any other coffee brand.  I've wanted them to add a coffee shop for awhile, but why not sell their own brand and train a few employees as baristas? They could've called it Mountain Jacks brand and sold it by the bag.  I always hoped they would turn Mountain Jacks building into a coffee shop.

I feel like you’re overthinking this.  From what I’ve heard, they’ll serve regular black, decaf and tea.  This is only “serving Starbucks coffee” and not full blown Starbucks. I don’t even foresee there being baristas.

Does anyone know if construction is continuing during this hiatus of life?

Received confirmation that the ride is still being built.  They hope to have it ready to go for the park’s opening (whenever that might be).

The issues a lot of sites are running into is not that they themselves are shutting down due to COVID, but the places they get supplies from (sheet metal, etc) are shut down.  So they cannot do anything until those reopen

So not actually Starbucks just serving Starbucks coffee? If that's the case, this will likely be the same or less out of place as all the coke logos in the park.

Correct.

And what is their sin ?  Curious as to what they have done to set you off ?

Can we stop with the politicizing of every thread on here?
It would be nice if we could have JUST ONE PLACE online where I don’t have to put up with this crap.

Seriously.  I don’t care if you think “orange man bad” or MAGA.  LGBTQ+ Forever or Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve.  Jesus Loves Me This I Know or Atheist/Whatever.  Just stop already.

If you have an opinion on the topic without infusing your political/spiritual/whatever views into the discussion then join in the conversation.  If you cannot do that, get lost.  Seriously enough with this crap.

Can't say I have ever purchased anything from them.  I have never seen the attraction.

Well you don’t strike me as the type to wear black yoga pants all the time and have a Karen haircut so that’s not too surprising

Name a major corporation that doesn't have "questionable political views". They are all dirty in their own ways. Starbucks catches a lot of flak from the type of people that go looking to be offended anyway.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Starbucks being added for the obvious theme clashes. Somehow I don't think Starbucks is going to cover their stuff up in decorative wood or use theme-appropriate signage. Coke is bad enough, but at least they try to theme it up a little bit. It's going to be another garish brand that again takes away from whatever is left of SDC's unique charm. Not a huge deal by itself, but again, it's all the little things that add up.

The mill is a special place at SDC. It is a real working grain mill that they actually use to produce products you can buy in the store such as the funnel cake mix. That is the old SDC that people used to come for.

Hopefully it's just a couple coffee machines.

1. Have you never been to a Disney park? They always make their signs fit in with the surroundings.  The only exception right now is Epcot

2. These are not full blown Starbucks.  They will serve maybe 4 options and will be in addition to what is being sold not the marquee attraction.

I would have thought it would have been a better fit in Eva & Delilah's Bakery instead of Sullivan's Mill.  Everyone has to pass it and lured in by the smell of the bakery early in the morning would have produced a lot more sales.

It would have also kept the charm of the mill intact.

They thought about adding it there but they preferred the foot traffic being pulled more to Midtown instead of clogging up the pathway to HH even more than our already is in the morning

There are two in the park this year.  One at Sullivan’s Mill and the other at the new Bread Store in Rivertown

Random Talk / Re: Coronavirus
« on: March 28, 2020, 11:03:05 AM »
400 people died yesterday in the USA from confirmed COVID cases. The numbers are still on pretty much a vertical climb nationally.

Yes but how many have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19? That’s the important number and one that will not get reported.  Not because of any political bias, but more so because hospitals are not required to report discharged patient numbers.

Yes it is a big health crisis.  No it’s not as bad as it is being reported.  No that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take proper precautions.

In case you haven’t put 2 and 2 together...

This year there will be no:
-Spring Ride Days
-Young Christians Weekend
-Festival of Wonder
-60th Diamond Jubilee Homecoming (as planned)
-Bluegrass and BBQ?

I’d be all for cutting down Star Spangled Summer and putting in Festival of Wonder as I don’t need two months of Reuben
