Things will settle down,,  just irritates me at how this season is progressing.... :(...  And once again this is MY opinion....

Agreed!  :-[

We just received a message from Paige. She says she will post on here as soon as she knows something.  I am sure sanddunerider will also keep us posted.

Just to reiterate what sanddunerider said, this whole mess is out of Paige's hands.  It's all coming from owners etc.  If it were up to her she would have been open by now.

I appreciate the patience, I understand it can be frustrating...it is for me too! But sometimes you have to understand business side of it. I have been promoting and keeping informed. Branson is slow, when you hear that McFarlains is not serving breakfast right now until the holiday weekend, well that means Branson is down in all areas. Right? Some shows, not all are okay but most have been area appreciation so can't really use those numbers either. My goal is to still try to open on the 15th, or at least by Memorial weekend. I have not been told no yet, ya all know me! I'm going for it!  ;D ;D ;D I should have more info hopefully by Friday. Thank you for all your support!

Ok guys I made my reservations at the Classic for Saturday and found out their SDC Fans rate is $38 a night.  The manager on the phone explained that she was going to try this out and if she got a good response she would continue with it.  Advantages include the fact that they are open year round.  I like to make the occasional trip during Christmas for SDC and shopping, this will make it easier as the Homestay is sometimes closed for the season before SDC season is over.  So lets give them a try so they maintain this rate for us.  Make sure and tell them you are a SDC fan.
They have pet rooms and were very accommodating to my requests.  I will report back on my stay.  Thanks Sandunerider for the tip!

I plan to still stay with Paige when she is open. She has been a great help to us as well as a fellow SDC fan.

I agree that Paige is a great help! she is also a nice and personable lady and runs a great hotel.  Unfortunately she does not set the schedule for its season and it has become shorter.
I do not intend to abandon her but have no other choice but choose another place to stay when she is closed.   Sandune set this up for us ( thank you Sir!) as an option out of necessity.  We must have options if Homestay is not open.   I will support the Classic if they are willing to go the extra mile for us as well.    This has nothing to do with Paige.  The smart move here is to find another hotel that will fill in for times that the Homestay is not available.  Lets hope that this new ball field complex at the Red Roof will help lift room occupancy in Branson and help out some of the hotels.  Maybe if this is a success the season at the Homestay will extend a bit.

Seems like everyone is hurting financially right now. Utilities are eating up all of my discretional income. Probably won't make it to Branson at all this year :(

It's not helping me either when it's 43 degrees a week before Memorial Weekend.  I broke down and turned the furnace back on last night.  BRRR!

Try 36 and I had to scape frost off the window this morning. Last year it snowed on the second of May. This isn't making for a good melon patch.

In addition to higher utilities cost and gasoline, the cost of food, especially meat is just crazy!  It is disappointing Homestay has delayed their opening, but it might be for the better long term by minimizing early season losses due to lack of visitors.

In visiting the area in the last few years, the Branson area feels tired, lost.  Fewer big name theaters, vacant buildings or lots, fewer outlet stores.  We miss Celebration City, we enjoyed the laser light show and the sox hop after.  It seems what we would spend days trying to fit in our schedule we can now accomplish in two.  The baseball complex, especially with themed replica stadiums might be an enjoyable evening attraction to visit. Do a little shopping (outlet sporting goods stores?) and grab a bite to eat?  Soccer in big in the KC area, what if Branson could land a team?
