Cardinals in a tie for the NL Wild Card!
« on: September 27, 2011, 11:03:39 PM »
Hasn't been much baseball talk on the board this season, but I just wanted to let you all know that the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Astros tonight to gain a tie with the Braves for the NL Wild Card race.  One game remaining in the regular season...a Cards win coupled with a Braves loss tomorrow night puts them in post-season play.  A Braves win with a Cards loss puts the Braves in.  Both win or both lose and they have a one game playoff in St. Louis on Thursday.  It don't get much more exciting than this.

Go Cardinals!!!

It's a crazy season. Both wild cards are coming down to the last game, and possibly one game runoffs.

Man o Man!  What an unbelievable night of baseball.  The Cardinals won their game handily, but the game between the Braves and Phillies went extra innings with the Phillies pulling it out in the 13th.  The Cards win the NL Wild Card and will play the Phillies in the NLDS.  On top of that, the Tampa Bay Rays pulled out a miraculous win in extra innings against the Yankees, after being down 7-0 at one time, to win the AL Wild Card race after Boston lost in the bottom of the 9th after leading through most of their game against the Orioles.

Tremendous night of baseball. It don't get no better...except if the Cards go on to win the WS.

GO CARDINALS!!!

About 2 or 3 weeks ago you couldn't convince me we would be having this conversation but somehow they have turned it around. DW swears we're going to the World Series again, but I'm just taking one day (or game) at a time.

Alright...coming back to St. Louis with a 1-1 record in the NLDS is about as good as we could have expected.  Halladay is arguably the best pitcher in baseball, and Lee ain't no slouch, so I'll take a split any day. We've got Garcia going against Hamels in game 3...Hamels is another great pitcher but Garcia has been great at home this year so I like our chances.

The Cardinals are a team that actually believes in themselves.  They weren't suppose to be there and they are enjoying playing the game of baseball.  Bring on the Brewers ;D

I like that they keep on moving along in the face of adversity...must be the plan so they will finally address the Pujols issue that they have been dancing aroung since Spring Training!

Making the post-season this year may make the Cardinals more attractive to AP. At least he can see that management is trying to field a competitive team.  There aren't many teams out there that can pay him what he's worth in today's market.  Hopefully the Cardinals offer will be in line with what he'll take.

It's a big day in Cardinal Nation!  Carpenter against Halladay...runs will be at a premium.  I think Carp will be at his best, he usually steps it up for the big ones.  I just hope we can break through against Halladay.

GO CARDINALS!!!

P.S.  It was fun to see the Tigers knock the media darling Yankees out of it last night.  Maybe now some of the other teams will get some attention.  On the other hand, I'm watching ESPN as I type this and they're talking about the "future" of the Yankees, so, maybe not.

Can you believe it? Top of the 1st, after two batters we have a 1-0 lead...and Carpenter makes it stand up with a terrific effort. A pitcher's duel that lived up to it's billing.

Now it's on to the NLCS to take on the classless Brewers. They have absolutely no respect for the game, which is a shame because they have some really talented players.

GO CARDINALS!!!
