Some rough stuff south of us here in Arkansas last night. Our area weathered the storm well. No troubles, just hard rain. WHEW!
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

All of my people in Yukon and OKC are fine. Others are not so lucky. Glad it didn't hit in a larger populated area. So far 8 confirmed killed.  :'( :'(

Turned on the morning news, and they were talking about tornado fatalities in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas from last night. I have never seen weather patterns like this before. :o

sanddunerider

yes it is very bad, obviously worse for some of than others.  and they are predicting another round late today/tonite.. :-\

The wife, her six home daycare kids and myself just got through riding out three storm cells that went over Kansas City. Sirens were wailing over the entire city! I got them down into the basement with blankets and I watched the tv and the skies. We had one near touch down in Overland Park, Kansas which is part of the KC metro area. Then we had rotation out at Kauffman Stadium where the KC Royals play ball. That is only a handful of miles from where I'm at. The storms pushed north to northeast towards Liberty, Worlds Of Fun and Kearney, Missouri. Nothing happened, but it was a little scary and nerve racking! :o

Sedalia, Missouri was hit. I dont think it is enormously bad, but they did sustain damage through the city. :(

Ok....official announcement..... I am officially ENDING tornados for 2011. That's it! Finished!
As of now, all tornados are on notice to cease operations!

I have family in Sedalia. Their business was destroyed but they are all fine. The news just reported no fatalities came out of the storm.

Thank God!!

Yet again, more tornadoes, and damage in Arkansas tonight. However, the weatherman said that the worst should be completely gone from the region, and that beautiful weather will be settling in for the rest of the week.

It's about time!

Today was a bit of a scary day here in StL. Mostly because, much like an M. Night Shyamalan movie (Signs, The Village, The 6th Sense) we did not know what we were dealing with. We were informed by our superintendant that our schools might be held after the release time due to the fast moving tornadic storms. As soon as the busses were leaving the lot (we have over 30 full sized school busses at our middle school, which is just one of five middle schools releasing at the same time in our district) the sirens began to wail. 3 tornadoes were sighted at the same time in various locations around St Louis, and we were informed to get home if we lived within 15 minutes or else we'd be stuck for a while. As soon as I got into my house (I live very close by) the skies opened up, and the winds began. All the real tornado action really grew once the storms hit downtown StL including Softball sized hail...SOFTBALLS!!!!!

Yeah, sanddune....I believe they are ignoring me. I guess I better get a bullhorn and get on top of a building!

well maybe it is a delayed reaction thing..?? ???

It is finally all clear here and throughout the surrounding states.. :)

Looks good outside! ;D

Now the only storm ahead is the cleanup and rebuilding process for the less fortunate ones. :(

It is a bit cloudy now, but otherwise it is a pretty, and much cooler day outside! A huge relief I am sure for the folks having to deal with the aftermath of the storms.

I was at the new apartment complex behind Centerpoint Hospital on 39th St in Independence when those cells came through! Some 15 or so people (including me, my friend, my mom, and my 3-year-old niece) went to the office building and hunkered down in the gym on the lower level.

I got some amazing video of the rotating cell that went over Kaufman and moved towards us. I'll post a link once I get it encoded and uploaded to YouTube.

I have a friend who lives in Joplin, and thankfully, she and her young son are safe; the only damage to their apartment building was the roof got torn off.

I got to ride out one of the most insane storms I've ever seen in my car today.

The storm came out of nowhere. There were a few dark clouds around, but nothing serious looking. Then out of nowhere we get these massive wind gusts strong enough to rip the siding off of buildings, followed by heavy hail and rain so thick it was impossible to drive any further after a certain point without plowing into somebody. Thought my windshield was going to break - if not from the hail, from all the debris flying around. Luckily I was able to park on the south side of an autozone escaped the worst of the winds.

I didn't look around too much because I was trying to get out of there afterwards, but East Norman was a mess. Lots of downed power lines, trees all over the road, stop signs bent over, lots of building facades scattered all over the place. The flash flooding was pretty intense too, I had never seen that before, but the road I take everyday was just a torrent in some places within minutes, and was still getting stronger.

At least I didn't really get any damage. Gotta love OK weather.

Wow, what a day you had! Any possibilities of tornados, or just really wicked straight line winds? Here in Central Arkansas it has been sunny, dry, and HOT. 8)
