It is possible, Lance called from work earlier (Fish House), about another foot and lower boardwalk/sidewalk will be covered, this is without flood gates opening.......watching the news to see what corps of engineers are saying?

jmc75

Just wondering anyone happen to drive down to indian point marina to see how high the water is

sanddunerider

wow paige,  hold on! it may be another long weekend,.   tell lance we said hi.!

Looks like flood gates will be opened more again.......on the 10:00 news here. Hope for the best for taneycomo residents; they have had enough to deal with from the last storm. Wish mother nature would give us a break please!  :'(

okiebluegrass

that would be nice, but looks like we're in for some more this evening

Junior

Nasty weather right now in Oklahoma...tornadoes...headed our way in nw Arkansas and sw Missouri. Shut the door tight. Close up the windows! Hunker down and get ready. This could be a rough night. It's supposed to hit us in nw Arkansas between 8pm-3am.
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

sanddunerider

yes it could be junior.. with storms starting in texas, going north to kansas, colo,wyoming.............  anything could happen!

rubedugans

Tonight is not supposed to get bad in StL Proper, but tomorrow it is once again called for BAD storms and Tornadoes that will be on the ground LONG periods of time between 3pm-9pm tomorrow.

rubedugans

Roll call Oklahoma. I hope everyone made it through it there, I have yet to hear injury/ damage reports, only have seen what footage they showed from the helicopters on Fox News affiliates in StL.

Ozark Outlaw

Oh look, more storms! Well, that's refreshing. :-X

I too saw that helicopter footage today on the news, and wow! The power of those tornados is just undeniable. :o

History Buff

OK, you might not believe this after all my posts about Joplin, but now my college roommate (the best man in my wedding) reports that his inlaws lost their house in today's tornado in Chickasha, OK.  Thankfully, they are safe.

We got in our car and outran some of the big cells headed for OKC. For awhile it looked like some of the huge tornado-producing cells were headed straight for our house. Our house wouldn't stand a tornado anywhere near it, so the only thing we can do is run. We headed out east for a while and stopped at two different Love's, but as soon as we got to each one the radio said another tornado was headed straight for that location  :P

On the way back we saw a lot of rotation in the clouds, and saw one tornado attempt to form, but break up just before a complete touch down.

There was also one clear path right on the side of the roadway that took out a semi and a ton of trees.

Missouri, and Oklahoma, and parts of Northwest Arkansas just cannot seem to catch a break. Talk about kicking someone while they are down.

It's interesting you shared that experience shavethewhales because I am in the exact same boat. When possible, I always leave my house to go to a better area. With technology the way it is, it does not make sense for me to hunker down in a house that would never withstand a tornado, when I could go somewhere else.

Again, when possible. Sometimes, it just isn't possible.

An interesting story, I recently had new neighbors move in next door, and one of the first things they did was install a new storm shelter. Working shift work, I had not had a chance to go next door, and meet with them yet. Well, sure enough a tornado was reported in my area at the last moment, so I made a mad rush straight to my neighbor's storm shelter. I'll tell you, there simply is no better time to meet the new neighbors than while charging into their storm shelter with them. :D

History Buff

My brother received minor roof damage and some unwanted mud in today's OKC storm.

shave, sounds like a good "road trip" for you. glad all is well and hopefully no damage whe you got back home.

Ozark,  I hope you at least took some coffee and cookies to the storm shelter warming party.  after all it is the polite thing to do. :),  and of course, hopefully you also sustained no damage.

History, sorry to hear about your friends house glad they are ok though.  After the last several days, that does seem to be the important detail.

We had some bad wind and rain last nite, but nothing otherwise,

I hope everybody else got along ok, without any major damage.
