General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2019 SDC Refill Tumbler

Is it younger employees that people are having bad luck with getting mugs honored? This is purely speculative but I bet corporate/management intentionally neglects to tell the teens and 20 somethings about the grandfathered older mugs and their pricing to get them to upsell the new ones. Reason being, I had dealt with some teenagers at a drink stall back in the summer who I had to show the stamped refill price to on my Powderkeg mug. They had no idea they had different priced mugs and called over another (older) employee who who then confirmed it to them and honored it.

Nope, couple 40ish girls at stand in front of Red/Gold, the stand that sells the potato chip basket, the skillet vendor by the waterfall, and Echo Hollow (older lady).

I think that it is a little over priced, and my family uses two of the mugs they sell now and we use them both frequently, but we normally refill ours at the pizza place that is next to the path to enter the farm area with Outlaw Run, you can get free refills because nobody watches at the Freestyle machines there to see if they went through to actually buy refill, so you can get away with free refills there. unless they increase the price of the refills or the price of the current mugs, I don't see any reason why we would get one. Also I'm new to the forum so hi everyone!

That's the way I read it, also.  That is never okay!

First off , Welcome to the board. Second, unless you clarify it better you sound like you are saying its ok to steal if no one catches you. Sorry, but I cannot agree with that.

@ Runner-- Agreed!

Does anyone remember the blue sparkling SDC billboard on S 65 years ago?  It looked like it was made of little round metallic discs that shimmered like water? It was coolest billboard! I'm guessing maybe it was put up the year LR was installed. Pintrader, are these family photos you're posting?  I wish I had some of them; haven't found anything like them in our family photos yet.

We have several of the $1 refill mugs so I do not think I will be buying this, unless they stop honoring the grandfathered mugs.

They have stopped honoring them.  I was told that this summer and actually shown the memo.
We used our Buzz Saw mugs just this past weekend several times, and used them a few weeks ago as well.

I think the question is how are they honoring them.  Are they totally doing away with the grandfathered in mugs and just doing the current year....or are they doing away with the $1.00, $1.50, etc, and just charging current refill price for these mugs?

That's true! When I pointed out the $1.25 refill on mine, I was told all mugs must be filled at the current refill price.  If that stays true, I can deal with it.  I seldom refill mine other than an occasional iced tea.

I do know that in the mid 60's before anything was built in that area, the lake was there.  They had a mannequin in a boat fishing that the conductor on the train would shoot at (that's another story).   I don't remember exactly how big the lake was at that time.   It's possible they could have drained, enlarged, and even cemented the bottom.

Yes! I'm certain there was a conversation on here about at one time.

This picture from 1973 has been posted before but it's been awhile, so here it is again.   This is off 76 and 265 highway going down into SDC.  Don't believe there was even a stop light in those days.

I love that! I remember it well.

Isn't Lake Silver over a sinkhole or a spring?  I thought there was a conversation on here about that a few years ago.

I have to say I'm kinda surprised if this is legit happening now. I had thought FM AP or even FITH would be higher on the list to receive attention by the park.

so they do a large water attraction now, then AP can be replaced with a coaster and nobody will think a thing about it..

No!  Terrible idea! I love AP; just make it good again.

I like the parade - dislike the Rudolph theme.

I heard a complaint once that we should shut the cave down because it's not ADA compliant.  ::)

Well if they would just move it someplace flat and smooth the whole thing out it wouldn't be a problem.  ;-P

If they move the cave someplace flat, they should go ahead and move the whole park.  Those hills... ;D! And, then close the restaurants because as someone with celiac, I can't eat at them.

The new $440+ million water park down the strip is going to start construction next year.

??  Really?

I  thought that project fell through, due to lack of city backing and very little if any tax breaks.?

Sand, that's what I thought, also - that the tiff grant was not approved. And, wasn't there plans for a smaller water park going in somewhere? No where near that price tag?

Branson Tri-Lakes mentioned the crafters - different crafters on park weekly.
