Isn't a moon pie actually a whoopie pie?

This video shows the elevator working and testing of rafts. I wasn’t expecting quite the spin that it gets going before it gets to the drop. It spins more than Time Traveler. 🤣 Maybe it won’t spin so much in the end with more weight.

Those crayon colors!  Yikes!

Man grab the popcorn and go thru the comments over on the SDC FB page ...lol wow they seriously opened a can of worms on this deal.

That is no joke!  A couple commenters hoping they go bankrupt and the whole place has to close forever.  Good grief!

I know 3 people.  A friend had a friend who died and my son knows a few; one of which died and was only 40 and healthy.

Just living life. Work, eat, & sleep until last week. Finally got layed off, we should bounce back though. Filed my unemployment & all that already, Had 2 trips to SDC planned this year, May 7 & 8, then August 8. Been posting a lot on "You Know Your From SDC If.." Facebook page lately. I check in here every couple days. :) I hope everything is going good with you Gilligan. :)

Good to hear from you! I miss your postings.  Hopefully, you will be back to work soon! This is the absolute truth: I woke up the other day thinking about SDC and that you haven't posted for awhile - Bam!  Checked my internet and there you were!  I know that's way out in left field - I must've been dreaming.

Traffic is much lighter.  Other than carry out, there's not much open.  College of the Ozarks, Big Cedar, and a lot of the marinas are closed.  Dogwood Canyon is open, except the restaurant is carry out only.  If you're going to Dogwood, note that you must bypass the ticket booth and go into the General Store for tickets or to scan your annual pass - not worth it to go in the store IMO. Box stores, like Walmart, Lowes, Menards are jammed.  If you get sick and need a doctor, you won't be allowed in the clinic; med staff will come to the car and you may be directed to a tent.  Keep that in mind.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Starbucks in the park?
« on: April 07, 2020, 09:24:42 AM »
I'm certain they could have set up a coffee shop location without using Starbucks or any other coffee brand.  I've wanted them to add a coffee shop for awhile, but why not sell their own brand and train a few employees as baristas? They could've called it Mountain Jacks brand and sold it by the bag.  I always hoped they would turn Mountain Jacks building into a coffee shop.

I feel like you’re overthinking this.  From what I’ve heard, they’ll serve regular black, decaf and tea.  This is only “serving Starbucks coffee” and not full blown Starbucks. I don’t even foresee there being baristas.

I'd still like to see a coffee shop! A latte would be great!  ;D  They need more places offering coffee around the park.  There aren't many.  If you want coffee in the evening, bring it with you.  Echo Hollow has it on the menu, but its very seldom made, and more often than not, we're told the machine is broken.

I read on another site that Starbucks was coming to the park offering only hot and iced coffee.  I don't really believe, but anyone else have info?

But here in the US... well, firstly, we have a terrible healthcare system.

You have got to be kidding . . . .

Ck point!  I wouldn't want to get sick in ANY OTHER COUNTRY OTHER THAN THE USA.

But, not the international quilt show in Kentucky I'm attending in April - 35,000 people from around the world in a small town 4 days jam packed in hallways and conference rooms for lectures and classes, in line for an hour at restaurants with probably half the visitors senior age.   :o   As of last night, the show people saying they are not going to cancel.  I cancelled and lost a lot of deposit money for a week of classes.

Random Talk / Re: Your Travels Thread (2020)

Posted this in the wrong thread earlier.  First mistake I ever made! ;)

Sorry, Swoosh:  more histoy-nerding to come in 2020.  Two years ago, I had the privilege of living on the property at George Washington's Mount Vernon for a week (Another SDCFan has done so multiple times, BTW.).  Last year, I spent a week at Fort Ticonderoga in Upstate New York.

And then came 2020:

Here was a nice surprise that arrived in my emailbox this week: word from Virginia about my acceptance to the summer teacher institute at Colonial Williamsburg. Huzzah, indeed!

"Huzzah! We are very pleased to offer you a scholarship to the 2020 Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute of Colonial Williamsburg. Your scholarship includes tuition and transportation.

"Within 10 business days you will receive an additional email from us. That email will provide your program information, including the session date and instructions for how to register/confirm your attendance and arrange your transportation...

"Sincerely,

"The Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute Team"

WOW!  That's great!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Silver Dollar Saloon Mugs
« on: February 14, 2020, 04:28:36 PM »
The hubs came home with a couple glass mugs from the Silver Dollar Saloon that he found in a flea market for $2.  What year did they quit selling them?  These look like they have never been used.
