General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Heroes month at SDC -- free admission
« on: September 11, 2017, 01:49:43 PM »
This is a great thing.  Something that doesn't get discussed a lot is that military dependents get in free when with a military parent or season pass holder.  As a grandparent of three army girls with an away dad, this is great!  I took two of them on Sunday, and as always it was about a two minute deal to get their passes at the ticket window.  Showed their military IDs, my season pass, and the tickets were printed out.  A very meaningful thing for SDC to do year-round for military children.  Many thanks to the Herschend family!

I wasnt aware of this.  Great discount.!!

Didnt want to start a new thread , this weekend is Country Music Weekend,  last night they had Diaod Rio at Ech Hollow, and Sat was Mercy Day,,,,,,,  attendence for the day was only 13,000.  That has to be a disappointing number the PTB,

I would be surprised if they didnt "massage" TNT entrance a little bit, since it is in the immediate area of TT...  of course TT will get 99% of the love this year and next... LOL

The Mining carts might show back up front in the area to be reworked for the "new" entrance....

That's not really the actual pinch point though. They need to either completely rip out and expand everything through the hospitality house or build the second pathway around the cave opening. Widening the plaza behind the big logo would just make it uglier without much benefit, if done by itself.

Youre right of course.... hadnt thought that far in.... but right inside the turnstiles... people stop to put away their passes, wait on the kids, get the ESV's, pick up strollers, look at bakery..... that whole area is packed!!..

Then the bottleneck up by the cave entrance going through there... especially at christmas time!!

So really,  3 problem areas....    have to see what the PTB come up with... ;D

The lockers have been moved to BOH (supposedly over by Brown's) for now but I imagine they'll reappear when the new ride opens

I am sure they will, that is a perfect area for that set of lockers.. I always see someone using them. :D

Maybe, just maybe, we'll see something happen with the entrance widening/overhaul that we've been assuming has to happen any year now?

I look for that to happen this winter. :-\ :-\     At least take down the wall and rework that part.

I personally am hoping they dont take out the little "creek" area just inside the wall, maybe just a wider functional bridge or crossing of some kind ;D

Sounds like Magic Shop and the former TNT arch is gone now.  Apparently a new construction fence has popped up around the area that stretches out to Valley Road.  Poke Salad Mary's is also behind the fence but apparently is surviving this revamp of the area.  Not sure if any of the other structures are leaving.  I have to think that they'll want to open up the area to make crowd flow better.  Taking out that planter between TNT Potties and Christmas Hollow would go a long way to help flow.

That just happened in the last few days then... moving fast in that area.. took advantage of park being closed for 3 days.. thats impressive..
that planter is in the way,  But with magic shop gone. and TnT arch gone.. that will make a big difference..

Did they move the lockers?  about had to didnt they?
