^The Hangman at FC isn't a coaster, it's a Chance drop tower.

Frontier City is a former Six Flags park in Oklahoma City. It was actually one of the original SF parks, and the headquarters for the entire chain were located there until last year. The park was sold last year to PARC, who have done a fairly good job with it thus far, and apparently have big plans for the place. That's good too, because the park hasn't seen a new coaster since 1991, and the last major ride that isn't an up-charge came in 2001.

It's an OK place, but it really needs something new to make it worth the entrance fee.

From SuperSteve's:
Hangman Up For Sale

Hangman, Frontier's Chance Slingshot drop tower, is up for sale Here on ITAL. In possible correlation with this, construction markings have been spotted on Coltrain road, the road that runs between the Wildcat and the old FC ride graveyard and employee parking lot.

Now I'm actually very surprised to see Hangman up for sale, not only because it's only 6 years old and still a fun ride, but because it's location can't really be used for anything grander unless the train is re-routed and the concert area moved. Then again, if they plan on taking out Nightmare Mine and the Rodeo Round-Up as rumored, then that leaves them with an empty plot of land stretching all the way from the train car to the scrambler, a pretty massive area. This area would be more than large enough to hold an area such as SDC's Grand Expo, or even a coaster that's twice the size or more of Silver Bullet. Thus, the few FC fanboys out there should be wetting themselves right about now.

What could the markings on Coltrain mean though? Well maybe they are indeed planning to move the concert area across the street as rumored. This would double the size of the land available for developement right inside the park. Or maybe they are planning on starting the long process of readying that side of the park for developement. That's unlikely however, as they would tackle the zoning issues first, so it's much more likely that they are doing something like moving the parking lot or the concert area there, if they are actually doing anything at all.

Then again, maybe all this means is that FC is just consolidating. I can easily see them taking out both Hangman and ErUPTion, and putting in a two or three tower S&S drop/shot tower combo in ErUPtion's place. This would eliminate the problems with ErUPTion, the complaints of roughness on Hangman, and give them one reliable, efficient, and fun ride in one move. Hopefully we can get both pieces of pie - and we likely will. I can see the new tower coming in later, with a major project occuring in the said area this year or the next.

Well, I may luck out and get a big coaster built near me in 2008 after all.

^Doesn't your school have air conditioning? At my school they never considered letting out because of heat, it's not like it'll be cooler at home.

Btw, double posts don't really matter here.

^Good grief, is that in addition to your afternoon practices?

At least my week will be better. Less work, and some of my personal projects are starting to shape up finally.

Errrrrr.... I'm so ticked, web design can be some pretty hard crap sometimes. It's not so much the actually building of sites or coding functions, it's really just the coming up with new and good looking designs that really makes everything hard.

At least I've got most of that huge pile of work I was given last week done...

Construction/Rumors / CC - Chaos Replacement?
« on: August 26, 2007, 07:35:00 PM »
Anyone remember early last year when CC's website proclaimed that 2 new rides were coming in 2007? Well one of them, apparently the one that was to fill the void of the Chaos, was dropped due to time issues and the park trying to squeeze in an extra show. What this ride was, we may never know exactly, but there's a strong chance that it may come back for 2008.

So what could fill the void of the Chaos? Well, if 'filling the void' applies to crowd draw, then we're looking at another thrill ride. I'm thinking something along the lines of a Zamperla Hawk or even a Powersurge, though I hope against a Powersurge as they really are more of a carnival ride.

Really, I'm hoping CC really steps it up this year and gets a huge new Huss ride, like a Top Spin or a Topple Tower. If SDC ends up going the route of adding new shops and general improvements for 2008, this would be the year for CC to break out and get some really special attention, especially with the fact that they really haven't had a notable addition since Chaos.

^I really don't know, I just find it hard to believe that SDC would build a second mine train across the park from an older (and better) one. Thus, it's possible that this concept sprouted out of complaints that ThuNderaTion was too rough/old and needed to be replaced (Guests are very picky). I'm sure many people were suggesting SDC get their own Big Thunder Mountain.

Incidentally, ThuNderaTion received a massive retracking/ support job in 2005.

Alright, the Lost Concepts page is finally up - albeit being a little sparser on info that I had hoped. I'm going to try to tackle the rating system next.

Maybe it showed up as an SDC concept before it moved to DW, possibly even before Geyser Gulch was created. Who knows though, I've found it's pretty hard just to scrounge up what can be found from the 2004 surveys, let alone the countless proposals from before. Who knows how many great concepts have been considered over the years.

Does anyone know more about the Enchanted Forest concept? I saw the artwork for it in Joy's gallery, but I've never heard about it before. Dollywood has something like it though...

Meh, more work today. I'm started to get burnt-out, I hope it doesn't last much longer.

Oh, there's absolutely no problem with you using the concept art; I mean, it doesn't belong to me... I only got lucky enough to find it on the 'net and save it. Feel free to use them.

Thanks, I'll be sure to give the usual credits.

Don't feel like you need to spend time taking photos for the site, although it would be nice to have what you can get. When I go in late November/ early December, I'll get tons of photos, so anything not filled by then will be.

^I'll probably make it either for Coaster Christmas or the weekend before.

Conductor Sam's news is great though. So instead of the new 7-story tree, if that was ever going to really happen, they've just added a new song, new lights, and synchronized the square - and the decorations are coming. So all in all, it will turn out much better than I thought, as usual.
