Not yet, it's not really a thing to advertise.

The rumors are true!

The Herschends have sent in a bid of $35 million for both parks. A low sum, but the Herschends are wise business people, they know how much it will take to get the parks up to where they want them. Besides, they may end up stripping CG of it's rides and just promoting the gardens, as the amusement side can't compete with Orlando and Tampa Bay, at least not at the size it is. I guess they could diversify the place by adding theming, live entertainment, and shopping, but it would still be hard to keep people flowing in when Disney World and Busch Gardens Africa are right next door.

I'll welcome Wild Adventures into the chain though. It needs some work, but from what I've heard, it's a nice place.

^I think you can still eat up there, it's just closed off irregularly for cleaning and other things.

^Especially in the very back of that pavilion attached to the rib house, there's hardly ever anyone there, and it's a great place just to gorge yourself with BBQ in peace. Of course, now that the path to Wilson's farm is next to it, it's a little more exposed, but it's still nice, and the trees growing up through the roof are a nice touch.

Other Parks / Herschends to buy Florida parks!

Screamscape is reporting that the Herschends may be looking at buying two florida theme parks: Cypress Gardens and Wild Adventures. However, sources are scarce and this is a very unlikely situation as both parks are a far cry away from what the other Herschend parks are like, but then again, the Herschends are always trying to branch out more and do different things, so who knows what will happen.

If the Herschends did buy the parks... Well, I dunno, I guess the corporation would feel yet more spread out and the fears of the parks loosing their individualized charms may be realized. Who knows though, maybe CG and WA could turn into great parks that would benefit the chain, but with CG's financial troubles that are pretty much unsolvable without massive downgrades, it might be a waste of money.

We'll see what happens on the 25th. Hopefully some park chain will come to the aid of these two parks, as they are really nice places, just not Herschend quality.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2007 Golden Ticket Awards!!

Meh, I have very little respect for the Golden Tickets any more. CP always gets best park, and for almost everything else you'd think they'd never been to another park other than Holiday World. I'm sorry, HW is a great, clean park with friendly staff, but SDC and DW do better. HW still employs a lot of kids, whereas at SDC it's mostly folks who have been there 20+ years.

Announcements / Re: New Pages Coming Soon.

Everyone's tired of hearing this, and I'm tired of saying it, but it may be awhile yet before I get much done. Not only am I getting busier every day, but I'm also preparing to apply for a new job, and there's lots to do to prepare for that. Plus, it's harder than I thought to make the rating system. I'm going to have to go back and do a lot of study before I try again. Maybe I'll get a chance this weekend, but maybe not.

Hopefully though, I'll find some way to get some updates up this week. News has been slow, but I might be able to dig some stuff up.

Branson Talk / Branson Developement

Ever notice how all those massive, pointless strip malls in Branson just ruin the natural beauty of that area? I mean, look at this photo ->

They just blast huge chunks out of the hills, then make massive square plots that jut out haphazardly across what once were beautiful valleys. I'm not really a naturalist or a tree-hugger here, but it seems to me that they could at least try a bit harder not to completely destroy the environment with their buildings that will most likely be abandoned in 5 years. I mean, really, it's like everyone thinks they can just plop a giant, bloated strip mall somewhere in Branson and people will just flock to it because of the fact that it's Branson. They could at least diversify a little, most strip malls have basically the same stores.

It looks like it must be on the very far side of the lake. Maybe you can catch a glimpse of it before your raft heads up the lift on LRotO.

Yes, directly behind the magic shop and the big skillet place.

^That's not even close to the amount of graffiti in TGS's line. Last I was there, a kid decided to scrawl his name all over the wall, and a ride attendant told him he'd be escorted out of the park. Well, then mommy and daddy came to the rescue and started a fight with the ride op., rather than notice what their son was doing, much less be bothered to punish him. It's like they had their family honor trodden on, the way they fought. They said they'd sue because there were no 'don't grafitti' signs, therefore the punishment was unreasonable.

Yeah, don't put to much faith in humanity.

Anyway, back onto the topic at hand, there's a nice place to sit and eat near ThuNderaTion, behind the food skillet stands. It's very wooded and has a nice view over the valley where the ampitheatre is, although there are usually plenty of people around.

It's probably just a coincidence, it's not like that many people come across this site.

Interesting, that's really not even a re-creation. Looks like the only thing he took from the original ride was the name.

Other Parks / Re: What parks have you been to??
« on: September 02, 2007, 10:50:27 PM »
I've been to a very few considering what an enthusiast I am. The thing with me is that I pick out the parks I like and I buy season passes for them and visit several times a year. Too bad I can't do that more with SDC this year.

    Anyway, I've been to:

    • SDC
    • CC
    • Bell's
    • Frontier City
    • Cedar Point
    • Alton Towers
    • Flamingoland
    • LightWater Valley
    • Cadona's
    • Metroland

It feels like I've been to more though, I may be missing a few.

You can't always trust PARC's websites though. They're worst than SF in the way they use rides from other parks in their ads.
