Rob Alvey runs the famous themeparkreview.com. He spends much of his time traveling the world visiting theme parks and documenting them on film and photo, along with the antics of whatever random crew is with him at the time. He would be one to know about such a black list.

Whether such a thing exists or not though is beside the point. Like I said in the other thread, the basic point was that SDC doesn't allow filming on it's rides without special set-ups and permission. As we are fans, we obey the rules and discourage breaking them. That's all that needs to be said.

In case you haven't seen the branson tourism site yet, here it is -> http://www.bransontourismcenter.com/

It's full of great deals like 20 cents of gas at a certain station, cheap lodging deals, show packages and more.

No, I never got a chance. They were mostly in the front of the park; I think their two main breeding areas were near the Disaster Transport exit and near the classic Carousel on the main street. So we just kinda stayed away from those places.

I'm sure they'll use the videos in the event that they need to prosecute someone, plus, these cameras are only part of a system that monitors the entire ride.

Anyway, before we break off into too many tangents on this issue, the basic point is that the park does not allow loose articles of any kind on most of it's rides - and as we are loyal fans, we're not going to help advocate the spread of videos taken against the rules. That's all there is to say about it here, whether you feel differently about the rules is another issue, but rules are rules.

Scenes in FITH come and go over the years, but I can certainly understand why they would take down anything related to hanging - seeing as some guests seem to confuse the Baldknobbers with the KKK. (The two are not related)

It is the perfect park for thrills indeed. It was great having two days of going from coaster to coaster, having so many different choices. It's not like any other park where you ride their two or so big rides and then try to find other things to do.

I forgot to mention the bugs though - they were EVERYWHERE. In swarms, massive swarms that coated some buildings and rides. I don't really know what they were, but they looked like massive mosquitoes, and I swear they kept biting me.

^Actually it probably is illegal; I don't know for sure, but Missouri has some pretty thorough rider safety laws. If they find the person who shot the video, they'll treat him or her like they would anyone that breaks the rules, which may include not being allowed in the park.

Once again, this is one of those issues that is taken somewhat seriously because of the number of incidents that occur around it. Even if it doesn't seem important, it's a pretty big deal when some kid gets his face smashed in by a flying camera because someone just had to make a youtube video.

I took my camera on Titan and Mr. Freeze. If you've got a good camera strap, you don't need to worry....

....However I did ride the pirate ship at Six Flags and the stopped the ride seconds after it started and told me to put away my camera.

See, you do need to worry. It's not so much for your interests as it is everyone else's. I don't want to come down on you all or anything, but it's a pretty serious issue that all parks get worked up over - we can't afford to deal with it.

So I just got back from spending a couple of days with a group of friends at Cedar Point. It was pretty amazing - cold, but amazing. I got on everything plenty of times until I felt that I had throughly 'done' the park. CP's operations are pretty amazing, lines were eaten as fast as they could form and it wasn't even very crowded that day.

Maverick was beyond my expectations. It has everything I could want in a coaster: surprises, airtime, awesome theming, inversions that actually fit into the ride, and much more. It's probably my favorite ride right now; I really hope more parks pick these up - one would fit in perfectly at SDC.

All the other rides were great as well, particularly Magnum and Blue Streak which were full of air.

My only complaint was the phenomenal price of food and drink. I expect higher prices in parks, but CF is getting nearly criminal in their prices. It was absolute ripping off everywhere you looked.

Shanty town was mostly replaced by the new Landing in the late 80's early 90's - I think. I've also heard the old town area next to the main square referred to as Shanty Town... Clarification, anyone?

The Gandy Dancer is apparently close to the train station and the old petting zoo. I still have yet to get a good glimpse of it myself.

Thanks for sticking around.

I kinda doubt there will be a lawsuit, purely because of the fact that this was a weather-related phenomena and not a park issue. Even if it were though, these things happen all the time and the Herschends, like any corporation, have a crack team ready to handle it. Just a year or so ago someone slipped on their own accord outside the Jukebox diner and tried to sue for around $2 million - they settled for around $200 thousand.  ::) The American Justice system at work.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2009/10 Project
« on: May 24, 2008, 05:36:31 PM »
^That would be something. I mean, there's something coming because we pretty much know for sure that they'll be spending their largest capital expenditure to date in 2009, but what if it's a collection of other things and not just a major ride? I wouldn't be let down. I want to see another coaster eventually, but right now I'm yearning more to see the city expand as a city and not as a collection of rides and random new areas.

I think from a business point of view it would be wiser to use this year to build a new feature ride, then use the anniversary to bring out the SDC nostalgia and maybe an expansion based on that.
