If the state does away with tenure, you better believe I am running for the border (Iowa) as fast as I can.  While their teacher retirement is not as good as Missouri's their lack of BS is encouraging.

I'd be looking 45 min across the river into Illinois!

They better not get rid of tenure!  I always miss everything right before I am eligible--career ladder anyone?

I don't know what state I'll run to.  How's Arkansas?

Midterms again already?  Seems like I just did parent/teacher conferences.

Career-Ladder is supposed to be fully funded for the 2011-2012 school year the last I heard.

IKR about the tenure?  I'm up for it after this school year and it will annoy me to no end if it is no longer available due to the stupid state stepping in -- then again, it will make it easier to get ride of some complacent co-workers I have to deal with who have tenure and don't really teach anymore.

That would be nice about career ladder, but my colleagues seem to think it's gone forever.  I want to believe, though.  Extra money is welcome!

There are tenured teachers who do not do their job...but taking tenure will not solve that...Playing on computers, and fan sites...Oh wait , I should really get back to work....

Just playing I am on lunch right now ;D

I know you are playing around but personally if you use media tools like facebook for educational reasons and staying in contact with parents on progress of their studens and/or updating on dates and such then I don't see a problem with teachers being on the computer during the day.

Teachers on a computer in a classroom? My response to that is welcome to the classroom of the 21st Century. I boldly predict a day when text books will be thrown out, and each child will bring their school issued notebook computer to class with them.  :)

Think of the carpal tunnel that is going to erupt in about 15 years from these kids and their excessive use of computers!

I was there, Swoosh, and I even thought to look for you for a moment, but figured no one would be there.  I had forgotten to mention it ahead of time.
