anybody plan first 2014 trip yet
« on: January 05, 2014, 12:35:11 AM »
I started to "begin" the 2014 meetup post, but it may be a bit early for that.

However Im interested to know if anyone has planned a 2014 trip yet? When?

We definitely plan on going March 22, 23, (maybe) 24.  As long as things stay stable till then. We have been known to make a quick trip in Feb. though.  Sometimes Baldknobbers open up for Valentines weekend. That is usually "somewhere close to" $100 for 2 show tickets and 1 night. Makes a great mid/late winter getaway

Baldknobbers have announced January and February shows this year. Just wondering if the demand is there for this.

On Trip Advisor and the 1branson board, there have already been questions about show offerings in January. At some point more shows and attractions need to be open in January and February if Branson is going to be a year round destination. The city wants more convention business. There needs to be something for people to do in the evenings.

We've had Spring Break booked since October. We'll be in town March 15-22. No SDC passes for us so we'll probably just hang out at our resort, see a few shows, maybe see some movies. Hope it doesn't snow (again... we go every spring break and have snow at least twice).

I believe there's great demand for attractions that cater to winter cabin fever and it seems Branson is behind other resort areas in this regard, not just with shows.

Well there has been a few shows open all winter for a few years now, but not a lot. I dont know if these shows are open this year either. I really didnt look at anybodys schedule. I usually dont. If we decide to go to Branson. We go! But usually (when we go in early winter), we find Jim Stafford, and Grand Country shows are generally open.

It would be nice to see about any show, any time.   Although it is nice for the entertainers to have a few weeks off. Like Randy (for example) who spends time at Disneyworld, then meets up with his parents, who do a travelling show in Texas, during these winter months.

Small wonder our lives have so little of God in them, when we come in touch with so little that God has made.

Already had a 2014 trip -- was there Friday the 17th and most of the day Saturday. Spent the night at Classic Motor Inn, nice and economical (around $40) plus they've started a reward plan -- stay 5 nights, get 1 free. Changes at Tanger Outlet Mall: Totes and Seiko are gone. Evelyn and Crabtree will be going into the old Seiko space. Le Gourmet Chef going out of business and will close by the end of the month. Ate at Danna's on Friday night and had Ray's Donuts for breakfast Saturday morning.

I just spent my last 87 cents on a Dr Pepper on the way to work. I don't see a vacation in my future

Well I had huge plans on getting passes by end of Jan. However I missed all last week at work. Economy is just terrible right now. (at least in some industries). I am happy for you that this economy is not killing. But just because your is good, dont mean its good everywhere.
This is the first time since my company opened up in Oct of 1979, they asked 5 people to take last week off with NO pay. (not even vacation pay-we was asked to take a week leave no pay at all). They say the next time it gets that slow, they will let us work, and ask others to take time off NO PAY.  --- 1 week is 1/2 my paycheck.  No I dont see passes, trips, dining out, or even a car payment for a good long time now.
