Airports are a serious pain. Considering the amount of hardware my wife has implanted in her back, security would be a nightmare. I think I'd rather drive...

And then there is a dark cloud hovering over the Branson airport now, with all the cutbacks they are getting ready to do @ a federal level...( Because on our c-i-c),
there is a threat of closing the air traffic control tower on smaller airports nationwide, If i remember right there are 5 or 6 being threatened in missouri alone.

that would be just great, get southwest in, and then lose the control tower..

i dont know what the cost would be to private fund something like that. OR even how that would work..

Considering that Branson is supposed to be a private, for profit airport maybe the owners should pay for the ATCs.

I can not for the life of me understand how a government agency can not operate on at least the current level with an actual 2% increase in budget over the year before. This is government. They have not shared in the pain the rest of us have endured. I've had 4 day workweeks for a year, had 401 matching reduced and so on. Yet, the Federals keep having their cake and eating it too. They can't find cost savings and efficiencies in  other areas to keep essential services going? PO Leez!  They cut off access to the people's house yet keep three calligraphers on staff for 300,000 a year? Come on.

OH Chittlinss.............and that is just the start of it......................... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

But we all agree not to get into the political debate on this forum.... ;) ;) ;)

Airports don't have to have a manned tower for commercial traffic. The Texarkana airport has said that if their controllers are furloughed, they will simply use ATC from another airport.

They even pointed out that controllers there are bored most of the time.

One of the ATCs that worked Drake's tower after XNA opened threw darts at a Bar I worked at in college and that was pretty much his take as well.

rubedugans

wow...I wonder if they are going to be part of the non-FAA tower system?

chittlins

In case you haven't noticed, the towers that are closing happen to be those manned by non union ATCs that are contracted outside of the regular ATCs. Just so you know the games being played.

sanddunerider

NO WAY!!!!  GAMES????  with our current CIC???  (clown in charge)...

No way they would play prejudice game agains non-union labor..... SAY IT AINT SO..!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Thank Goodness the Easter Egg Roll was spared from the sequester.

Seriously, are we not learning anything from the Eurozone?

I used to love to talk politics in college.  Anymore I have to completely avoid the topic otherwise I become so irrate that I cannot even begin to see straight.

He promised Change.  That's all I am going to say about him.

you believed it?

Look, I'm not going to get into my platform but I can say I admire the Pauls and Dennis Kucinich(sic) cause they seem to be honest in their beliefs. I respect that. Doesn't mean I vote for them, but respect them. Pryor down here in Arkansas is transforming into a Republican cause he's running scared. I find all these sudden transformations on gay marriage completely laughable. Doesn't mean I'm for it or agin it. Just saying, these epiphanies are humorous.

I didn't vote for him (Obamanation) either time.
