For those of you who dont have the dvds at your disposal, tv station WGN Chicago will start airing the five SDC episodes of "The Beverly Hillbillies" tomorrow at 8am & 8:30 am Eastern, 7am & 7:30am Central starting TOMORROW. They run them back to back, so it'll be two tomorrow, two Monday and one Tuesday.

I already have them set to record!

Do they still sell the DVDs at SDC?
I was supposed to pick one up for somebody last time I was there, and I forgot.

could not wait until next week to watch the shows!  classics,  great oneliners.  funny!

the first show has NO SDC in it,  But the 2nd one does..

shows the bridge coming up past Shad the blacksmith,,  And he gets in ion the converstaion a couple of time..

Also the hotel
general store.
you can see what i think is the mine restaurant in the back ground,
wilderness church
the water tower..

VERY COOL!!

Thanks again andy for letting us know about this!

iF YOU LOOK through those episodes you will also see Shad Heller, Pete Herschend, Chick Allen, June Ward (As Elly Mae's stand in) and other noted SDC citizens of the day. You will catch a glimpse of the candle shop, the basketweaving shop, the mill at the AP (At the time, the float trip) interior of Sullivan's Mill, and glimpses of the McHaffie Homestead, the church, and the medicine show wagon. Since my family and I visited the season after the filming, those episodes bring back memories for me because SDC looked the same as it did in my first visit as an 8 year old in 1970.

It's fun seeing the episodes on TV, I'm glad I have the DVD. However, one mild disappointment that the DVD did not include some bonus material like out takes of shots filmed at SDC, or maybe a little biography with history behind the five segments...they could have interviewed Donna Douglas or Max Baer Jr.  They are the only primary cast members still living. Jed, Granny, Mr. Drysdale, Mrs. Drysdale, and Miss Jane are all gone.

When Granny and Elly Mae go to the basketweaving shop, in the crowd is a tall, slender fellow with red hair and beard. That's Pete. They show several good shots of him in that scene. If I am not mistaken, he may pop up in the candle shop scene which I think is in the same episode.

Glad I could be of help to everyone! I was watching them this morning. Hey Junior, when Granny is talking to Jed on top of the hotel in SDC episode 2, she mentions all of the area men that are already married and she names Jack Herschend.

I dont know if I have mentioned this or not before. I know I have told you all that I know of several known spots of Paul Henning around here in Independence, Mo. But I found one thing particularly interesting where Paul's parents are buried. Just a few yards from where they are buried, there is a stone with the name, I kid you not, Clampet. One T at the end, not two. Now, I dont know if this is where Paul got the name for the show, but I find it very coincidental!

Beverly Hillbillies is my favorite TV show of all time! My grandma made sure we got to see that when we went to her house. Grandpa recorded almost all of the episodes so we would never run out. I think my uncle still has the tapes, and I'm really glad my family raised me on the stuff they did! They are one reason I'm here right now!! In a way, Granny reminds me of my grandma (extremely hard worker, raised in the south, hated living in the city, nobody touches her kitchen). After both of my grandparents died, since the house is like a "meet-in-the-middle" place for my dad's side of the family, that's where we still celebrate 4th of July, Christmas, etc. Even though my grandma died about 3 years ago, we're still afraid to use the kitchen too much, cuz that, and the porch swing were HER places!

That's where they were when I got mine during the 50th Birthday Party celebration.

I attended and graduated from Paul Henning's high school (William Chrisman in Independence, MO). I've always been proud of that fact.

So I have a question
Was just watching the Beverly Hillbillies and was wondering about the Hotel. Back then is that what the interior actually looked liked?
