iF YOU LOOK through those episodes you will also see Shad Heller, Pete Herschend, Chick Allen, June Ward (As Elly Mae's stand in) and other noted SDC citizens of the day. You will catch a glimpse of the candle shop, the basketweaving shop, the mill at the AP (At the time, the float trip) interior of Sullivan's Mill, and glimpses of the McHaffie Homestead, the church, and the medicine show wagon. Since my family and I visited the season after the filming, those episodes bring back memories for me because SDC looked the same as it did in my first visit as an 8 year old in 1970.

It's fun seeing the episodes on TV, I'm glad I have the DVD. However, one mild disappointment that the DVD did not include some bonus material like out takes of shots filmed at SDC, or maybe a little biography with history behind the five segments...they could have interviewed Donna Douglas or Max Baer Jr. They are the only primary cast members still living. Jed, Granny, Mr. Drysdale, Mrs. Drysdale, and Miss Jane are all gone.
