You know I don't here much about the Homestead Pickers, but they are the primary reason I go back to the City 3 or 4 times a year.  This will be our 8th year and I try to make at least 3 of their shows each day, it does not matter how many times I have seen and heard the same stuff, it never gets old.  My oldest daughter is 14 and my youngest is 5, the front porch is where we always head to first.  Danny Eakin and the 2 Greg's have always been great to visit with us.  Now as sad as I was to see Ez and Dil go, Dwight has certainly filled the hole well.  You simply cannot replace Ezra Micham.

Our best memories are of the Christmas visits, when it is too cold to even be there, the pickers will be in the cabin going on with their antics and making anyone that shows up feel like family.

Wondered if anyone else shares my enjoyment of these guy's, especially would like to here your favorite memories of them.

One time in the fall, when Danny was singing Ghost Chickens,  the lady that keeps the kitchen came out of the cabin and whacked this guy over the head with a rubber chicken.  A guy sitting on the bench got so tickled, he absolutely could not stop laughing, I am talking belly laughs so hard he was losing his breath.  Finally, Ezra comes up with a paper sack for this guy to breath into.  No staging here, it was great.

Also, want to mention Judy Young and her SDC tales Cd...great stories.

I also really enjoy the Homestead Pickers.  I take time out every visit, no matter the weather, to listen to them play.

Anyone know why DWIGHT MURDY left the Pickers?   There is a new guy Steve Bush that has taken his place.

The Homestead Pickers are absolutely wonderful! They are just genuine, pure, honest, wholesome individuals, and they have truly been putting smiles on folks faces for generations. :D

I consider them to be the heart, and soul of Silver Dollar City because they bring so much personality, and life to that humble little city in the Ozarks. When I was a teenager, I always knew Silver Dollar City was special, but the high flying roller coasters consumed my interest. Now that I am a bit older, I have come to really appreciate the people who have spent years entertaining others at Silver Dollar City. I love listening to the Homestead Pickers play, and they always know how to bring out a hearty laugh from deep inside of you. Aunt Judy is also an instrumental part of that group. On my last visit I spent nearly an hour just talking with her. :)

I agree completely with you Ozark but I would still like to know if anyone knows why DWIGHT MURDY has left and if he has went to another show.

Danny was working on park at the same time I was. Very nice, talented man. The others I don't know. Never have had a chance to see their current show. Aunt Judy was telling stories during my time on park too. Seems like I remember her doing street feuds as well. She is married to Richard Young, a fine SDC entertainer, who during my time on park did many things like emcee the lumberjack show and particiapte in various street events. Last time I was on park, Richard was working the line at the saloon. God bless 'em all. They have all become institutions on park, and I know all will have a place there until they retire or pass on...they help to make SDC special!

Judy Young has an awesome CD of SDC stories of citizens and some history.  You may have to ask her for it as I have never seen them out for sale.

Ezra Micham is the one I truly miss of the Picker's. He brought so much energy to the group
and his version of some of their songs cannot be duplicated.

We usually stop out at the farm to see Mike & Nancee Micham  every time we visit Branson....they are wasting their talent farming and only performing sporadically. Their web site is: frontdoorfarms.com....if anyone is interested...they have their CD available through the web site. Dwight is playing  off and on with family(sisters and brother) he had a lot of problems with repeated allergies when in SDC....he has a singleCD out "Stand for the Flag" available through the Homestead Pickers web site. It is good! Steve Bush is a great addition to the Pickers...he doesn't sing a lot,but is a good musician and also plays in the Paul Harris Show on the strip.
