I think it has been at least 3 years since they did the food court in there during Harvest Fest.  They do not even have the Best of Missouri in the courtyard this year.  Sure do wish they'd bring back Headin' West in the Opera House

I would like to see Headin' West brought back, too. I guess the Pinkerton Man stunt show at Echo Hollow was supposed to be the replacement. Has anyone seen it this year?

I certainly hope the lye shop is not closing!

Biscuit, saw the stunt show over this last weekend.. appears to be just like last year..  LOTS of action! LOTS of stuff going on... LOL, it could easily be stretched out into a 45 - 60 minute show..!!!   being a 25 minute show it goes by FAST!!!

Best of Missouri is at carousel barn & randomly spread thru the park this year. Last year for Great American Cowboy, and possibly the Lye shop (closing end of Sept)...

I hate to here the Salute to the Great American Cowboy is coming to an end.  Is it not doing well or is SDC just trying to mix it up some?

Is the girl still screaming?  I liked the show enough, but I sure got tired of the screaming.   ;D

They have a different gal playing "the screamer" this year..

she is not as loud or as shrill as last years....LOL!!

I hate to hear that the foods are not in the hall.  No Butter Cow either?  what is this park coming too?
The biggest shocker is the Lye soap is going away...........that is the last to fall,  I consider this the 7th sign.......   I think we are going to end up with a Dollywood 2.  Its a dumbed down SDC that has a small section in the middle of the park that used to "be" SDC TN, but the crafts are mostly done and gone, shops that are open filled with generic stuff.   That's the direction our ship is headed in. Dollywood attracts the east coast crowd and we are middle America.  Dollywood is not an escape from reality, SDC trys its best to be.  I don't know that SDC can successfully make that change for the long term.

One long time "insider" I know told me earlier this year that "each year there is less SDC and more amusement park" and that the changes are the result of the decisions made in Georgia. This is what happens when the founders retire and are replaced with qualified people who look more at the bottom line than tradition and what got the company where it is. The people hired to replace the founders or those older employees who retire are doing what they can to keep the company "in the black." Trends in theme parks change, you cannot stand still while the competition passes you by. However, it is sad to see many of the traditional things were are used to seeing, lye soap, basket weaving, and other crafts go the way of the stagecoach, rainmaker, diving bell, Tom Sawyer's Landing, and other things that no longer exist at the park. Again I believe the SDC "product" is still far superior to what many other theme parks deliver, and five generations of my family have gone to SDC and we will go back.

Well said.
Small wonder our lives have so little of God in them, when we come in touch with so little that God has made.

I knew it was over this year on Labor day weekend when I saw Duck Dynasty crap in the Knife shop for sale. Along with Swamp People Tshirts for sale. Times they are a changin.

Runner, you don't know how sad I am to hear that. I expect quality at SDC, not crap I can buy anywhere else. However, the bottom line is shops will offer what will sell. If not enough people feel the same way I do, and apparently that is the way it is, more and more junk will find its way into the shops. Seriously, if the PTB did a poll and 90 percent of people said they wanted a space rocket ride on Main Street I'd say look for it next season.

Junior, I was going to do a review , but was so dissapointed in some things I just held off because I did not want to be negative. But yes they are selling this junk. Not sure what the Robinson clan or the swamp people have to do with SDC.  I even saw a first for me. 2 golf carts down at the riverfront about noon transporting people. Almost got run over.

That's just a whole lot of sadness!

History Buff

I saw a golf cart at Christmas, one year - it transported an elderly Bob Hope out to light the tree.  As much as it might have been necessary for Mr. Hope, I still think there is a 19th century alternative to these so-called solutions.

IF they are going to have golf carts, Paint them up to look like wagons/stagecoaches....  ;)
