Two of my favorite ways to start the season: the Yankees are in last place with the worst record in baseball, and Pujols leads the majors in home runs.  ;D

If all remain healthy, I expect big years for Pujols (obviously), Holliday, Rasmus, and Ludwick for the Cardinals.

That was definitely a rough loss for the Yankees last night.

The game was excellent with Yadie's grandslam.  What was the icing on the cake was a Cubs 16 to 5 loss to Atlanta!!! :)

What a great game.  Good start for Carpenter. Everyone looks impressive.  The middle of our lineup is killer.  I'm glad I'm on our team.

It's time to offer my prediction for the 2010 Cardinals season.  I offer this with a caveat:  this assumes no major injuries are incurred during the season.

I predict a win total ranging from 85 games at worst to 95 games at best.  If you remember, my prediction last season was 85-90 wins (so I was pretty close; I did not anticipate the addition of Holliday in July).  The ceiling is a little higher this season due to the more potent lineup.

Any of you have your own predictions for the season?

what the baseball season has started?  Go cubs!

Well, the 2 errors from Freese played into the loss tonight.  2 errors = 2 runs.  I am a little bitter since I did like De Rosa and I think Freese showed me that maybe he is not ready for 3rd base hot spot.

It is real interesting how well Ankiel is doing in KC.  It was good to see Edmonds even though he is a Brewer.

^I think we'll be seeing Felipe Lopez a lot more at 3B.  Freese hasn't looked comfortable at all there yet this season.

Our only two losses have been due to walk-off HRs.  Right now I have zero confidence in any righty in our bullpen.  None.  That is our major soft spot.  Someone has to step up and be consistently effective or Mozeliak will have to make a move during the season to get a good RH for the bullpen.  Our lefties, Miller and Reyes, are good.

As for Ankiel, I'm not surprised that he's started off well at the plate.   He's hitting in the AL now and those pitchers aren't familiar with him; give it another month or so and they will figure out the hole in his swing.  It didn't take long for NL pitchers to figure him out. :)

I am right along with you with putting Felipe Lopez at 3rd base.  I am not a real fan of Freese right now.

I just think they under utilize Miller.  I like the way he pitches and the authority he shows on the mound.  I think I would have traded Motte.  He looks like a hyper child on the mound.  I just want to yell slow down and think about what you are going to throw!!!

Hopefully they will start shopping around for a RH for the bullpen.

Great to see that there are other Cardinal fans on here!!  GO CARDS!!

The Astros are going to be the dogs of the division this year. I hate that we gave up a game to them yesterday.

Man, we need a new 3B! Freese has just committed his third (that I know of) error leading to a run scored, for the year!

Zephon

Ahhh, well maybe Freese redeemed himself a bit with a nice grab of a hot smash with the game on the line.  I sure was happy for Lopez, hitting a Grandy for his first HR of the season.

Freese earned some redemption points with his bat (3 for 3).

Lopez definitely got some points tonight, but given his BA, I think it's more a negative against the Mets bullpen.
