oh, and I got my first sun-burn of the year... ::)

Holy... Dear lord a'mighty, I am definitely bringing the sunscreen with me tomorrow! If you burned today, I would most definitely burn tomorrow without it!

And just think, they're calling for snow Saturday night!  The last count I heard around 4, was 12,000.  Uploading pictures, as I type...

12,000 huh...wow that's alot for an opening day. Of course Spring Break kids accounted for a HUGE percentage of todays crowd. Oh and BTW...I saw Terry Sanders and at least 3 other characters on the square for a large part of the day today. Very glad to see.

WOW, RB just looks great. The last touches really put it over the top. This might be the most well-themed ride SDC has ever made... well, maybe - it looks pretty good! I love how they themed the little wheelchair lift - I was worried it would stick out.

Good to hear about everything else going better than expected too.

the fog in the early morning at RB was soo awesome  too bad they couldnt have that much fog there all the time

Thanks!  Soon as River Blast finishes, I'll start uploading all the other ones, like the Apple Butter, the 50th merchandise (and there's a LOT of that!), the new Powder Keg store, with a whole line of NEW stuff.  I even ran into Jack Herschend, twice, today!

I totally can't believe we're expected to get snow on Saturday. The heck's goin' on?! :)

12,000... not bad. A few years ago, the year Grand Exposition opened, I was there on the season opening day and I believe the shuttle guy said they reached over 14,000. Which is surprising considering how cold it was that day.

I think I'm definitely gonna have to start taking art commissions, 'cause I know there's gonna be all sorts of 50th anniv. stuff I'm gonna want to buy.

And so it begins...next...opening weekend...and then anniversary weekend.  If there was such a traffic jam today, I can only imagine what it will be like that weekend.  It makes me grateful that I got my room at Deer Run and can walk to the park.  Being able to come and go as I please that weekend will be awesome.  Get tired of the crowds, leave for a while.  Get bored at the motel, go back.

The only problem will be getting to and from Branson with the traffic.  Of course, I don't imagine I will want to spend much time in Branson on that trip.  I will save that for the following month.

History Buff

I can't tell which way is up in some of those pictures.  It's hard to get oriented.  Guess you have to be there to take it all in.

I particularly like the simple box that says Ship to Marmaros.

What is the significance, if any to the Miller and Sons/Forsythe sign?  Is there a story behind it?

And the boat's name Ricky Phalen?  Where does that come from?

Wow, those are terrific pictures Tin Man! I was nervous that River Blast would end up looking cheap, and plastic, but it actually turned out nice. I am blown away with the amount of attention to detail they put into it! This proves that the folks at Silver Dollar City have not lost their touch.

Now I really cannot wait for my trip this May!  ;D

I was wondering if this could be a nod to Andy Miller, the man who is responsible for so much of the theme at SDC.

QuoteAnd the boat's name Ricky Phalen?

I believe Rick was an employee who passed away this winter.

Thanks for those pics, Tinmann!

I admit that I had low expectations for RB, but it looks really good. You won't catch me inside the splash zone, but I'm sure the kids will have fun.

The Fog is generated at the ride, it will be there all the time. Rick Phelan was an employee who passed away this winter as copper said.
