Random Talk / 2011 Trips
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:03:52 PM »
This is our first year to have SDC season passes and we have planned several short (2/3 night) trips throughout the year.
It will be me, my sweetie hubs and our 2 boys, ages 5 & 2.

March- Our first trip is opening weekend and we are staying 2 nights at Stonybrook Inn. The plans for this is to spend most of our time at SDC and also to be on the cheap, bringing our on food, splurging for Danna's one night.

April- The hubs and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary with 3 nights in a loft suite at the Keeter Center (CotO). We will visit SDC (World Fest) and also maybe hit The Landing, maybe trying Cantina Loredo, and end our stay with Sunday Brunch in the Dobyn's Dining Room.

June- Coming for 3 nights the first weekend of June, staying at Eagle Lodge. Wanted to bring the kids to Kid's Fest, but the schedule didn't work out. During the stay we also plan to Ride the Ducks and visit the fish hatchery. This will be another "bring our on groceries", be as cheap as possible, trip.

September- 2/3 nights the forth weekend, staying at Eagle Lodge. Visiting SDC during the Harvest Festival, and also may try Dixie Stampede this trip. We have never been before. Yet another "cooler full of bologna sandwiches" trip.

Thanksgiving- Last trip of the year. :( Staying at the Good Center/Keeter Center and having Thanksgiving Brunch in Dobyn's Dining Room. This will be our Christmas visit to SDC.

I love planning vacations, so having all these little trips to plan has been so fun! I would love to hear your feedback/opinions/suggestions about what we have planned so far.

Talk to Paige!

Thanks for the tip! We are staying at Stonybrook in March, and the hubs and I (kid free!) are staying at the Keeter Center for our anniversary in April, but I will def. look into Eagle's Lodge for our trip in June. It will be great to have a pool and fridge!

Hello! My name is Mandy and I'm a newbie!

I started a thread a couple days ago, but wanted to pop over here and introduce myself properly!

I took a few trips to SDC as a kid with my family, and my hubby and I went 9 years ago for our first anniversary. Now the kiddos have come along, 2 boys, ages 5 & 2. We took a trip up in December for 2 days. It was my first time seeing SDC at  Christmas. The boys had a big time. Their favorite rides were the Happy Frogs and the Flooded Mine. We bought season passes for this year and have 4-5 trips planned. The first one is opening day! We are getting excited!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: How far away do you live from SDC

We are in Southwest Arkansas. 249 miles away, and 4.5 hours according to MapQuest, but we make it in 4 if we don't take long stops.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Will I be able to ride?
« on: February 18, 2011, 10:15:22 PM »
Well, I wear a size 26W right now. Hopefully that will be down a size or 2 by our trip. I did have to do the "walk of shame" off the kiddie coaster when I tried to ride with my son. That mortified me into not trying anything else that I wasn't for sure about for that trip. My husband is a skinny thing, so he could ride with the kiddos on the things they wanted to ride.
The link at the website makes it seem like I should be fine on FITH, Lost River and the American Plunge, plus the others I already know about. I'm not worried about the roller coasters, really, although I do like Thunderation, but it was a tight squeeze 8 years ago, before I gained all the weight.

Thanks for all the help!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Will I be able to ride?
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:04:28 PM »
Hey guys! This is an embarrassing question, but I would rather ask here than find out at the park. I am pretty overweight, and I was wondering if I would be able to fit in the rides? We went at Christmas and I rode the flooded mine, train, etc., but I was specifically wondering about American Plunge, Fire in the Hole and the Lost River. I don't care about the big roller coasters, but I do want to ride some rides with my son.
Any opinions/experiences to share?

Thanks for all your help!
