Construction/Rumors / Food for thought

The Ozarks are basically Swiss cheese as far as caves go. Do y'all ever worry about the number of roller coasters that they are building above one?

Random Talk / Moving to Harrison
February 05, 2015, 12:29:40 PM
I have it on good authority (the company HR dept) that I am to be offered a permanent full-time position in Harrison either tomorrow or Monday.

How does one go about finding rent houses in Harrison, Arkansas?

Thought this might make an interesting topic of coversation. Anybody else remember things differently?

Mountain woodcarver's shop
For as long as I can remember, the Mountain woodcarver's shop was across the street from Thunderation and directly in front of the train station. Christmas in the Hollow and the Woodcarver's shops switched places a couple years ago. So the woodcarver's shop is now in what was once the toy store.

Bears in the Holler
Bears in the Holler was introduced in 2011 (?) when Half Dollar Holler opened up. Before that, the building had housed Becka's weaving. I don't know how long Becka's had been in there. As a kid, it was Mountain Taffy and there was a second Tin type area right beside it.

Random Talk / Reaching out for help
July 28, 2014, 09:06:42 AM
My cousin is on Temporary Duty for the US Army and he is in Oklahoma for one more week. We grew up going to Branson with our grandma and grandpa. I would like to take him to the city this weekend. He has done time in Iraq and Hawaii and he is stationed at Ft Lewis, Washington (2000+ miles from home)  Does anyone either know of military discounts and/or have any BAF and gonna be there next weekend. All suggestions welcome. I'm on a serious time crunch planning all this. I don't have a whole lot of money. Just trying to do something nice for a soldier who just happens to be my mom's sister's son.

Violet's daughter is having a party for her tomorrow at 1PM. Her booth is right off the area where the mine restaurant is, headed towards the candy factory.

I know there are many of us that don't eat very often in the city anymore. So my question is why not?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Favorite Candy
August 28, 2013, 03:34:00 PM
What is everyone's favorite candy at SDC?

Example: Peanut Brittle? walnut brittle? fudge? hot cinnamon fireballs? taffy?

I didn't want to make it a poll, cause I'm sure I'd leave out somebody's favorite and then they'd hate me forever, but I was just curious what y'all think.

FYI Funnel Cake doesn't count

ok, guys. I'm starting a new band and i need name ideas. Old country, southern rock, some older red dirt, a few originals, even a few old country gospel tunes but very little of the stuff that passes as country music today. Any help would be appreciated.

We are gonna start out with 4 guys. A lead guitar, bass, drums, and me. I am going to be the lead singer but also play fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, keys, harmonica, kazoo or whatever else they ask me to.

Getting off of the train a few weeks ago, Bluegrass widow busted her head open by standing up before she cleared the train. I had to take her to the first aid area behind the candy factory. In 30+ years of going to the park, I can't remember ever needing medical attention. She has since fully recovered. Sooooo. my question is this.....

Do any of y'all have any stories of injuries you obtained and/or observed while at the park?

Camper has heart attack and dies after being bitten at Current River.
My mom had a snake come up inside her inner tube when she was tubing there once.

Random Talk / Man cannot live on Doctor Pepper alone
August 16, 2011, 04:36:06 PM
I am a big dummy.

I ended up in Baptist Emergency Room yesterday because of what I did this past weekend.

I went to the 1st annual Blanchard OK bluegrass festival for about 2 hours to get my fix and then played basketball for a few hours on Saturday. Then my band practiced for 5 hours or so on Sunday.

I almost passed out doing 70 down the highway yesterday morning and then almost passed out again at the Access Medical Clinic. They carted me away in an ambulance.

Turns out that heat + humidity + obscene amounts of Doctor Pepper will land you in the hospital if you're not careful.

My heart rate kept dropping from normal to around 50 and I felt really really weak.

So drink water.... or Gatorade.... and eat bananas for the potassium.

Don't be a big dummy like me  ;D

Branson Talk / Treasure Lake
May 12, 2011, 10:32:55 AM
Have any of you all ever been to the Treasure lake Resort in Branson?  My grandparents had a membership from 1984 until they passed away. It seems strange not to be able to just walk in there like I could when i was a kid.
