General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2019 Trip Reports
« on: May 07, 2019, 06:43:40 PM »
The problem with "XYZ Day" at any venue, is that it gets filled with people who think it's all for them and theirs. They've probably never been there before, but they think that just being a member or affiliated with XYZ means they have special privileges.

this is a very loyal group of fans.

And by "very",  let me add my personal situation: I moved to New Hampshire. I haven't been home to Arkansas in four years (and my mother doesn't hesitate to remind me every time we talk!). Probably the only way I'll visit SDC again is if I win the lottery.

And if I win the lottery, I'll be staying at Ozark Valley Inn to thank them for their partnership with SDC fans!  :)

When I was young, we went to SFOT a few times, and we went to SDC.

By the age of 10, I hated SFOT and loved SDC. I consider SF the anti-SDC.

As the General Manager of Ozark Valley Inn, I'd like to join in the discussion and announce how truely excited and grateful we are to team up with SDC Fans! We are looking forward to meeting as many members as we can and to make this a wonderful season for all.

Andrea Belden

Welcome, Andrea!

As you've no doubt already noticed, this is a very loyal group of fans.

My son put his brand new Blackberry Pearl (to tell you how long ago this was!) in his cargo pocket before getting on Powder Keg... it was never seen again.

Why the concern for "American owned"? And how do you define "American"?

If the service is good, the citizenship or national origin of the owner shouldn't matter. And if it's not good, it still shouldn't matter.

Cement doesn't melt in the heat, so that could be a reason to put it in. I remember several years ago being at the park on a super hot day and my shoes nearly got stuck in the softening asphalt.... Very weird.

Oh, great. Now we have to debate cement versus concrete!

That should be part of their advertising, lol

"You've got a great smell ahead of you!"

I traveled to New Jersey and New York last year for A music festival in Asbury Park and Bruce on Broadway. Just bought a 3 day pass for Bourbon and Beyond music festival in Louisville in September. Try going to some shows, people travel all over the country following their favorite band and making a vacation of it.

Sure, people do that. Some people. Not most people. Not even a significant portion of people.

SDC Fans is composed of people who really love theme parks. Some of the members here travel all over the country to ride rides.

Meanwhile, the reality for your average family visiting their one and only park for the year, is that they just want to have affordable fun. That's all. They don't care about concerts, even if they love music.

You are such an excellent ambassador for the park's devoted fans.

I was in the area today for work so I decided to take a little detour and cruise the strip.  It was a ghost town, but even at that, still got stuck behind somebody going about 20mpg.  I dont know why people suddenly forget how to drive once they get out there.  I ate lunch at the Grand Country and there were about 2 other people in there with me.

How many here remember when 76 was the only road, and those bumper stickers on the front of local cars that said, "I'M A BRANSON NATIVE AND I'LL HELP YOU TURN LEFT!"

And they would stop so that you could.
