Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2019 Project(s) and Park Developments

Another "new" engine will be coming online next season.  They won't run another Davenport on the line.  These bigger boys don't have any problem making the loop -- and no I don't ever see them expanding the current loop.

Parking lot shuttle.  ;D

I keep waiting for my notice, I usually do the ducks twice a year..  SInce I spent my money supporting them, I may be liable also :o

I wouldn't be surprised if you get a class action notice, informing you of your rights for being so traumatized that it could have been you.

Here is a picture from circa 1970 of the building on the left as you enter The Flooded Mine (still there today).   Back in those days you would have a ticket you would get punched before entering a ride, and I believe this guy was out there to do the punching.

That's correct.

I understand about shoes. Theme-appropriate footwear is both expensive and uncomfortable. Forty years ago, wearing Grandpa's old hunting boots was cheap and easy, but it's not that way today. For one thing, Grandpa is probably still wearing them. ;)

I think even Miss Mary would give in on this. Not about the wristwatches and cell phones, though.

I have a regular ATV (Polaris Sportsman 500), but I only use it for plowing snow.

The side-by-sides and UTVs are pretty popular here for trail riding, though. If you've seen the NH episodes of North Woods Law, you've seen where I live.  :)

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Refill Cups

If the price difference would break them, the refillable cups wouldn't be offered in the first place.

They sell them knowing that the vast majority will only be used for one visit. Fans who hang onto theirs year after year for repeat visits are obviously worth a lot more than a nickel's worth of soda (which is all that 50 cent price difference costs them).

Here is a slide/picture from 1968 of The Lucky Silver Mine restaurant complex on Main Street.

Parking stripes still visible. :)

The theming is better Classic SDC than anything SDC has put out recently. (I know, it's a simulation, but it looks good.)

Random Talk / More ADA news about parks
« on: August 24, 2018, 06:09:41 PM »
This is specifically about Disney, but we've had discussions about the American with Disabilities Act as it applies to SDC. I don't think it belongs in SDC talk, nor other parks talk, so I'm putting it in Random Talk.

I quote from law professor Eugene Volokh's "Short Circuit" roundup of recent U.S. Circuit Court decisions.

"Disney theme parks accommodate individuals with cognitive disabilities by allowing them to skip the line for all rides with wait times of less than 15 minutes (which is most rides) and to schedule appointments at rides with longer wait times. They are never required to wait in lines. Parents (in 30 separate lawsuits): Not good enough. Our kids still have meltdowns. Eleventh Circuit: Disney might not be complying with the ADA."

Let’s not play the entitled game here of “I’m in the club so I know things”

Who are you, and what did you do with Swoosh?

One of the guys out there (who posts here sometimes) put a huge amount of time, investment and effort fixing up FM last year, and it was looking great last season, especially at the beginning.

Our friend who also busted his butt volunteering at Dogpatch?

He definitely loves the parks and their history.

Talked to KD today,

That's a great report. Is their pet policy staying the same?
