Construction/Rumors / Re: SDCís 2022 Project(s) and Park Developments

...but as for Flooded Mine they smiled and said they are aware of all the issues and that a real plan has already been set in motion that will make everyone happy in the near future.

I guarantee that there is no plan that will make everyone happy. The pre-guns crowd will never be happy if they remain. The pro-guns crowd will not be happy if it returns to a story-telling dark ride adventure.

In theory, I don't have a problem with premium passes for those who want to pay for the extras. They can have private guides, for all I care, so long as it doesn't degrade the experience for anyone else.

I just don't think that should ever be the expectation for visitors, but I fear that in the current climate of keeping up with the Joneses, more and more families will feel they have to pay extra.

Back in Miss Mary's Day, everyone paid the same price and got the same experience, and there's a lot to be said in favor of that model when it comes to a good experience.

I would expect a lot of inside prep work doesn't need to wait for the exterior to be fully dried-in. Setting anchors, conduit and wiring, network cabling, air handling systems, etc. Normal building stuff, for buildings that include an indoor coaster.

This 2023 opening is looking like it might not happen. I have not heard of any track pieces showing up or anything with the inside going on. I do not see this opening in 2023 and will be instead 2024. If any rumored stuff is true like a drop track this ride will need a good amount of testing done before opening. I believe that Time traveler started testing back in the winter of 2017.

Thank you, Mr. Kettle.

All of RMCís track is prefabbed at their factory in Idaho and shipped to the construction site.  I imagine the set pieces are also being constructed off site and once installation begins it will go quite quickly.

I don't doubt that you're correct on the build schedule.

What about the theming? Will it be more outsourced computer-printed signs? Or will the park spend a few bucks for human-sourced theming?

I hope they do something with the highway side. Otherwise, it's going to look like a warehouse.

Why would that matter? Itís the Highway side not the park

It's IN the park, so it IS the park. Everyone driving past knows it's the park.

Theming matters even before you step through the gates. That's why they have themed ads and road signs before you reach the park.

How on earth can a drone show be in theme?
How can electric Christmas lights be in theme?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: New Metal Detectors
« on: May 17, 2022, 12:06:55 AM »
They arenít just classic metal detectors anymore. They are much more advanced and automated. They basically do an automated bag check as you walk through them. If the system flags something, they pull you aside to check it. Makes the entry process move so much more smoothly. Overall a great upgrade.

This is what they are: https://www.evolvtechnology.com/

So, extra-expensive kabuki.

^ I know we all want the new ride to be very similar to the old ride.
Not everyone even knows what "the old ride" was, because it has changed over the years. Not just the scening and effects, but the route itself.

Some changes were for obvious safety reasons (after that horrible accident), others to speed through-put, and some because changes were quicker and cheaper than repairs.

I don't care for it and wish I could just walk in but considering how the world has changed in recent years I can deal with it.
How has the world changed in recent years? Crime is down. What has changed, is acceptance of "oh, anything to make me safer!", even if it doesn't.

The whole metal detector, security checkpoint, and bag search has really turned me off of SDC.  I suppose it is probably at the point of being necessary as the last several years going over to SDC and Branson, the clientele seems to be changing lately.  I have been seeing things you would never see in years past.
When you treat people like criminals, you turn away people who aren't accustomed to being treated like criminals... which leaves you with criminals.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2022 Crowds / Trip Reports
« on: March 21, 2022, 09:36:08 PM »
Any reports on TnT?

It is open and was running two trains on Opening Day.   What type of report are you looking for?

I think they must have done some work in it as that big painful bump in the tunnel appears to be fixed.  The bad spot out of the tunnel also appeared to be fixed as well.  Seemed like there were a couple of other spots that were rough but I did not think it was nearly as bad as it was the last several years.

That's the kind of report I was looking for.

There have been complaints for years about the rough bumps. I wanted to know if it was better, or not.
