This one hurts. I saw the writing on the wall awhile ago...pretty soon the park will be vastly different than what I grew up with. I anticipate the train station is going to relocate, we'll get a new entrance eventually, LROtO is gone, FITH is gone. TNT was my first coaster. I know things have to change for progress but this hurts to lose. It was a special, classic mine train coaster.

I don't think that TNT is going to be rebranded with this new attraction as was the case with FITH. They're using the language of "retired" and their marketing is basically saying that TNT is no more, look for something bigger/better.

The park is already vastly different from what I grew up with. I remember the excitement of FITH being a new ride, but it was still mostly about the theme back then.

I accept the need for coasters, but the race to out-coaster amusement parks is the death of SDC as a theme park.

It sounds like he understands that long term success won't be found by chasing the latest greatest thrill ride. Not everyone on this forum gets that.

I really haven't kept up with the knives there since being disappointed many many years ago that the resident knife maker was using stock removal and not forging anything.

I really do not want to see SDC become a coaster park. So,A giga or Hyper does not interest me at all. Time Traveler was supposed to be a game changer that would bring people from all over the world. And it did but the new wears off so its on to the next thing that is the worlds somethingist. Keep expanding in a controlled way and keep the charm of the park.

The old timers have been saying that for many years. It's a theme park, not the latest greatest biggest tallest fastest coaster park.

I am looking at doing a quick road trip with my kids (shortest one is about 49") sometime in August. It will be a Thursday - Sunday trip. (We could leave Wednesday afternoon if needed.) Would like to visit 2 different parks.
I'm thinking drive Thursday, park Friday, drive Friday night, park Saturday, and drive home Sunday.
We are in Springfield, MO. We prefer more theme park vs amusement park (SDC, Dollywood, Disneyland, and Animal Kingdom are some of our favorite parks.)

We've done Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, and we also do Dollywood every year.

What are your suggestions?

As someone who hates crowds, I would welcome a big discount on off-peak days.

I know that's now how it works in reality. Off peak pays full price, peak pays extra.

I have been going to Little Rock for years for work, and all over Ark in general and how I have I never heard of this park before?

If you drive from LR to Hot Springs, you drive right past the park.

They are going to get their "Gaslight Square" after all.

It was such a big hit the first time, right? 

I live about 40 miles from Magic Springs and haven't been there since 1981.  It just doesn't appeal to me.  My wife and I were talking about it and we figured most of the time people go there are for the concerts- and those are usually like Steppenwolf's grandsons or some other variation of an oldie band. 

I'm originally from about 90 minutes west of Hot Springs. The only time I went to Magic Springs was about 1994, when it was a great place for a 3 year old's first amusement park adventure.

I never understood it as a concert venue. Lake Hamilton Steppin' Wolves band might be behind the Steppenwolf grandsons theme. LOL
