What si open during Moonlight Madness?
« on: August 01, 2010, 10:53:25 PM »

I am thinking about going this week as it sounds like crowds are light.
What is open besides the rides?
are the restaurants open or the shops?
What should I expect

Not much is open during MM. Rides are the draw, so not many vendors are open.  From what I remember

The Hospitality House
The Ozark Maretplace
Funnel Cakes
Hannah's Ice Cream
Candy Factory
Lumbercamp Skillet
Buckshot Skillet
Tater Patch Skillet
Toy Store, Dockside Grill
General Store
Taffy shop
Eva and Delilah's

NO for sure for the:
Blacksmith
Glassblower
Pottery
Woodcarver
Leather
Guns/Knives
Furniture Shop
Saloon
Tin Types
Cave

So in other words if the job requires a unique skill, or an artist then that attraction will not be open. On the other hand, most of the generic positions such as "store clerk," or "ride operator" will be open.

Or at least that is what I am gathering? :)

Unique skills are more costly. Moonlight Madness apparently is about the rides, and not the arts and crafts and bigger restaurants and shops. I guess SDC gos from being a theme park to an amusement park...with primarily rides and the junk food and drink stands operating. That's why you get Lady GaGa over the PA system instead of bluegrass/traditional music. The park is targeting younger people who don't mind Lady GaGa as long as they get their roller coaster rides. Just my guess, anyway.

Yeah, after the sun goes down there's nothing to do but ride, and the lines get pretty big for SDC. The specials they have going on at the few places left open are pretty sweet though. I took advantage of the $2 root beer floats, buy one get one peanut butter brittle, and the buy a t-shirt, get a hat free offers. There's also a $5 or $6 burger and fries deal, and a few others.

Not trying to stray off topic, but is Moonlight Madness a fall out from no longer having Celatibration City's late night entertainment? It seems like they are trying to promote more revenue afterhours similar too Celebration City.

Not that I am complaining. It works out great for both Silver Dollar City, and the guest!  :)

^Yes, that is exactly what they are doing. I actually felt nostalgic for CC when I was waiting in line for PK in the warm summer evening, listening to 50's music.
