Went to SDC 7 times already this year and have had a great time each and every time.  The last visit was on tuesday june 15th.  There was no alot of people on park.  we walked on almost every ride and saw everyshow we wanted to see.  Speaking of shows.....   I am glad the Magic of Peter whatever is in it's last season.  We need something new for Kids Fest.

Dropped into the park today to try to get the cinamon bread secret from Sullivans mill.
It was pretty quiet all in all but I am assuming that the crowds are on there way in for the weekend.
I enjoy it being slow but I also think its not a good thing for growth.....

Dropped in to have a short visit at the city. On my way in i was asked by 4-5 people if i would le them take my picture. Anyone else really annoyed by this?

ohh oh me me!!!!!! >:( They are a bit much. I know they generate revenue from some groups from the photos and products sold, but really....they make me feel like I am dealing with telemarketers. They are not just confined to the entrance or the square anymore. As a 30 yr visitor, I don't need my photo to remember the trip, Some people might, I don't though. There might be a market for this , but there has to be a better way rather than annoying guests. I have seen at least one of the photographers taking the more abstracted, photo journalistc photos of people/ kids. This is a deal for someone who wants a candid photo of their child/ family that is not just the posed "stock" family portrait for a lesser cost than hiring a photographer/ going to a studio etc. If you want one of these find the young lady usually posted by geyser gulch she knows her photography!

WOndering about these things as a photographer. I wonder if the park ever gets senior portraits, or enagement photography groups in the park. If so, would they allow them in to do their thing?

Strangest thing - I'm so pretty, even the tourists want to take my picture!  "It's hard to be humble when you get better lookin' each day."  ;)

Really, give 'em a grumpy face, and they won't even approach you.

I don't know much about the park "photographers," other than most of them are foreigners.  I've never seen one of them being "pushy" about asking if someone would like to have their picture taken, but I guess I can see how it might be annoying to have to say no to several different offers around the park.  But look at it this way...if having to say "No, thank you" a couple of times is the worst of your annoyance, you're doing pretty good.  Relax...have a good time.  Actually, the ones parked outside the Saloon wearing Saloon dresses seem to do a pretty good business.

As I walk through the park, I often see families posing for pictures at various places.  It strikes me that one, the photographer, is always left out of the picture, so I offer to take one, with their camera, that all can be in.  They are always appreciative.

I was unaware of this situation with the photographers. It makes me laugh, what a park will do to make money. I remember that as an employee, we were strongly encouraged to pause and snap a picture for folks, just like Zephon mentions doing. To me, that's the way it ought to be...but I realize this is "today" and not 26 years ago! Ya gotta make money to keep things viable. That's my two cents worth.

The photographers at the saloon are also entertaining.  It's fun to watch the saloon girls make some old guy turn red in front of his party.  At least that setting lends itself to a "special" photo that you can't normally get on your own.

We had our pictures done at the Christmas tree last year.  The photographer took the time with the family in front of us to pose them, get the best angle, etc., but with us, it was point-and-shoot.  Our photos didn't turn out very good.

So, I went with my dad, stepmom, stepsis, and her 4 and 6 year old sons to SDC on Wednesday. Started out cloudy and ended up with a nice shower (which we hid from on the Culinary Arts porch), but then it cleared out and it was sunny the rest of the day.

Terry said on his Facebook that there were 13,107 people on Wedns. I totally believe it. We parked down in... oh, whereever Stop 5 is (got there at 11/12-ish). But once inside, the crowds really weren't too bad. The lines weren't too long ('cept Lost River), so that was nice.

My 6yr old nephew Christopher rode his first ever "big person" roller coaster, riding Thunderation first forwards, then backwards. Loved forward, hated backward.

My dad took Christopher and his 4yr old brother Landen on Fire in the Hole. Christopher rode by himself and didn't particularly care for it on his own. Landen rode with my dad and, in the end, he rode it four times in a row!

My stepsis and I took Christopher on Powderkeg. I figured if he liked TnT, he'd like PK....... Wrong! He cried the whole way through the ride; poor thing had tears streaming down his cheeks. We're pretty sure it was the launch that got to him, though we'd told him about it before it started. So for the rest of the day, we heard "I don't like Powderkeg" from him every 10-15min. :)

The boys got to meet the Colonel and Whoops E. They *really* got a kick out of Whoops E. We ran into her twice, and she remembered them, which they thought was awesome.

All in all, a great day at SDC!

Hey everybody!  Just thought I'd share one of my favorite pictures from our trip to SDC in June...

That's, of course, our old buddy Terry on the left as undertaker M. Balmer.  (Those eyes really are creepy ain't they?)
On the right is Shakey Standback with whom I enjoyed visiting on a couple of occasions.

That's a great pic! (I had to edit the code so it would load; there were a couple minor errors in it)

^ Thanks for doing that.  I'm new at this.

My wife snapped this picture yesterday...didn't even know she took it until we got home last night.  By far one of my favorite pics of us from SDC.  It sums up my report for our trip last week.
