Countdown till Christmas break anyone? We have 12 full days, 3 half days... (1 professional development day, and 2 days for final exams). 1 of the full days I'll be on a field trip to the local University, sooo...you would think I am excited about basically having 11 teaching days left...

nope

I have soo much to do in the next several days that these kids are gonna hate me by break!

Today is a half day.  We have 11 full days and 1 1/2 day left after today.
Our local basketball tournament is going on this week at our school, so the kids are pretty much walking zombies right now.  We have 3 pep band gigs between now and break (2 next week and 1 the following) and I have my elementary bands concert on Monday (thank goodness I had the JH/HS one before turkey break).

Wow, I hadn't thought about how few days we had left!  I'm pretty excited now.  But, I have much to do before then, also.  My goal is to not have to grade anything over the break.  I'd really love to not figure grades, but that goal is probably too lofty.  I just really want to enjoy the break this year and not have a pile of work hanging over me.  We'll see what happens.  I have two more speech tournaments, so maybe I can get things graded during those.

What I do is the first week (Dec 20-24) is mine - no school work will be done
the following week (27-31) will be to get certain things done though when it happens is flexible.

I flip them around...up until the 24th is work...and 26(My birthday)-28 is SDC. we return on the 3rd for teachers, 4th with kiddos, I really try to use it as a break from everything, so I get the work done right away so it isn't looming over me.

No I haven't been on the Belle during my birthday trip, though it would be fun...
as for school...
10+2 half days...we don't have to have grades submitted until Jan 3...even though I am going to finish mine before Christmas.

I had a pretty busy weekend.  I took kids to a speech tournament Friday night, and we didn't leave until after midnight!  That's the latest tournament I've ever been to.  I didn't get home until well after 2:00.  We grabbed some late dinner at Taco Bell, drove home, and then waited for a few kids to get rides.  We brought home a few trophies, so it was worth it.  :)

Today, I went with a student to the American Legion Oratorical Contest.  It was the county level, and we only had two competitors from our county.  Still, my student advanced.  Overall, we had a great weekend!

5th place in MO for my quiz bowl team! (really tied with 4th but they overall had more correct)
214th internationally

One more box checked for "Things to do this school year" list

And only 5 full days and 2- 1/2 days remaining after today.

Not sure whose idea it was...but we were called off last night at about 10:30pm. With our rural roads in the outlying areas of our suburban district, the ice was just too much. Ice trucks wrecked, and overturned, police wrecked en route...40+ cars abandoned on a several mile route....SNOW DAY!

Needless to say, it isn't great since finals start tomorrow, but I can handle 1 more full day, and 2 -1/2 days this semester!

We had a 1HR delay today.  Several area schools called off.  Not sure why they called off because it wasn't too bad when I went to school.

Done with "real days" of school for the semester.  We have our "play day" tomorrow and the ever famous FACULTY vs SENIORS volleyball game -- should be epic.  I cannot wait to whoop up on the kids again.  We're 4 years undefeated now -- love to make that 5.
