But Swoosh, you would have school even with a foot of snow on the ground...

That is true... Oh well, we only have 8 school days until Spring Break.  I can last that long -- 'sides we have District Band Contests on Friday so we really do need to have school all week so we can make sure our two pieces are as clean as they can be before our performance/judging.

You guys are lucky you even get a spring break! We had a four day weekend as a spring break but that was taken away by snow days.  :(

Yeah we have the 31st - 6th off.  Looking forward to it, because that means my "hell month of stuff to get done" is over and I can relax and go to Vegas. :D

We don't have a true spring break either, but we have a long Easter weekend.  I'm surprised we get to keep it all.  We've been making up snow days here and there.

Big press conference with the administrators tomorrow about our plans to fight the economic situation.  Yuck.

Happened to us last year. 36 certified employees were cut. I was barely safe. This year is not nearly as bad (since the whole plan was to cut last year, and be a year ahead of the really bad economic hit). This year we are still losing some, but mostly through attrition, and retirees going unfilled. Good luck HB Give em' your $0.02 worth!

Attrition is a great buzz word.  I doubt there are any raises coming to us, but the district has reserves so we're hoping to weather this thing.  Still hurts.

I guess I should count my lucky stars then that our district is doing so well.  We are about to receive a large influx of money due to the new farms that are to open Spring 2011 in our district.  They are contracted for 20 years and will bring in $40K more a year in taxes.  That will almost double our current tax money that is coming in.

Sorry to hear that other districts are having such rough times when ours is one the complete other side of the fence.

They tricked voters into believing casino money would go to schools....in reality I guess it did, but the money we used to get is now going somewhere else. We are still getting the same $$ just now it is "from the casino revenue" instead of the State budget. That money is going to...hey wait a minute, where is that money going to then?

Yippee!  Today is the first day of my Easter break!  It's kinda like spring break, except shorter. Too bad my husband has to work, or we'd make a day trip to SDC.  I guess I have to be patient...

We have 12 -- but that is rather misleading because the band will be gone for a couple of those days.  Tomorrow we travel to Pella, Iowa for a HUGE marching competition.  I love going up there and competing agaisnt the Iowa bands because marching band is a major sport up there and for some odd reason we are one of only 2 bands in NE Missouri that takes marching band extremely serious.  (we have NO competition in NEMO).

We're headed to the KC St. Patrick's Day Parade next year (2011) and then the Liberty Bowl Parade/Half time in 2012.  Not bad for a small 1A band in NEMO that is a "suburb" of the county seat

14 1/2 days, but I'll be off for part of that time for a nice personal reason.

They're already planting the seeds for ways to torture me next year by going deeper into PBS and RTI.

Ugggg RTI and PBS, they must be taking lessons from my school.... Officially we have 16 days left-YES we have to go back for a half day the day after Memorial, and another after that work day...I have 2 trips to Six Flags, 1 fishing trip , 1 museum trip, and 1 pioneer days field trip so really 10 days that my brain has to be working.
