We are now 44-44 since May 1, and have reached that mythical 10 games over .500 plateau for the second time this year!  Can we surpass it today?  If so, it will be the first time we've reached 11 games over .500 for a long time (I know we never reached that mark last year).  This afternoon we face lefty Zach Duke, who is 4-2 against us so far this year.

Wellemeyer will be starting against the Reds Tuesday.  They say he's "our best option"; I say we can already mark Tuesday as a loss.  I'm sorry, I have no confidence in him whatsoever.

AT the rate we keep loosing players (Big Z, Rod again) we are limping to the finish line. Thank heavens for Wells- a leading rookie of the year candidate.

The Cards won today!  Hopefully Capps gets suspended for hitting Pujols.  That HBP was uncalled for.  We're now 11 games over .500, and I was wrong.  We were 74-60 on Aug. 27 of last year, so we have been more than 10 games over .500 in the last couple of years prior to today.

Can the Cubs play the Rockies at Colorado more often 

Thank goodness we are finally starting to pull away from the pack now.

^We only have a 2 game lead, and there's a lot of baseball left.   Besides the Cubs, I wouldn't be surprised to see Houston or even Milwaukee make another serious run before the season is over.

Playing better ball now.  Since that Houston series when they swept us, we are 11-5.  It was really nice to take 3 from the Pirates while the Cubs lose 2 of 3 at Colorado.  In the series coming up against Cincy, I hope we can get 2 of the 3.  Lohse against Cueto tomorrow, I'll give the nod to us because Cueto hasn't been pitching all that well lately; but then Lohse hasn't really found his stuff since coming off the DL either.  Tuesday's game has Welly going against Lehr, who pitched very well against the Cubs in his last start.  Advantage Reds.  Then we get to Carpy against Bailey.  Advantage us. We need to keep winning, keep the pressure on.

Breaking news (as in 15 minutes ago):  Wellemeyer won't start tomorrow.  He had elbow discomfort in this afternoon's bullpen session.  Boggs will start in his place.
