I'm probably in the minority, but that looks very underwhelming.  And what was the talk about 1st of it's kind in the States?  Also, another pretty short coaster, just half a mile long.

Quote from: hollijo on June 01, 2026, 01:20:29 PMI really wish this was something thrilling but it's not. Project 2027 is a DIRECT TNT replacement. This has been planned for the past 3+ years. Anyone who expects this to be on the same level of Time Traveler thrill wise is going to be disappointed. Obviously this will be marketed the entire family but this is not going to be a thrill machine or anything remotely close. It will be Thunderation's Mystic river falls with a first of its kind and some "family friendly" records broken. Herschened as a whole is pivoting entirely from Thrill to family and this will follow

The only "TNT Replacement" this ride will be is that they're both rollercoasters.  I guess you could make the argument it's replacing 1 for 1 but the REAL "TNT Replacement" is coming on 2029.  This ride was planned well before TNT decided to kick the bucket faster than expected.  TNT was expected to coexist with this new ride next season.
Swoosh, thanks for being the voice for reason amongst all these new users adamantly trying to convince us of something other than what's obvious.  I appreciate what you contribute to this forum.
I guess in August when SDC makes the announcement you guys will finally see this is not a thrill machine and Insted a Thunderation replacement. But in the meantime believe what you want lol  ;D
No one wanted to listen haha

Arrogance will only get you so far  ;)

Gotta give them their due. They were right.

Quote from: ColaSDC on Today at 10:06:27 AMIt looks like a really good mine train, but I wish that it was called thunderation. Miner mountain express just  doesn't roll off the tounge

I think most will just call it "Miners Mountain". The "Express" is even shrunk down in font on the official logo.

Well it's finally a coaster that isn't supposed to be high-thrill for once. I have no idea what the "first" is, but its probably once again something the PR department has wildly stretched and will be ignored after the initial marketing is over.

It's definitely not short - most family coasters are far shorter. They could have cut it down to half of this layout and that is what most parks would have done.

Here is the POV.

Most of SDC's coasters have been pretty short. I see a lot of substance here. It's not as drawn out as Big Bear, but a lot of people refer to that one as boring and uninspired for all the land it takes up, so in my mind this is what Big Bear should have been. I think they learned their lesson from that one. A few turns flying through highly themed rock work is way better than a mile of track over an empty field.

Dfisher

My expectations were for a stryker and I was disappointed in this. I'm liking it now though.

3,553 feet is pretty close to Big Bear Mountains track length. It's going to take advantage of the beautiful mountain views while having some great scenes. Hopefully they announce some more things to Daredevils Pass like shops and a restaurant or possibly some flat rides. I like it and I'll be riding it alot.

It's definitely a great family coaster, but it's been 8 years since time travelers opened and 13 since outlaw run. SDC needs a good thrill coaster soon and hopefully that's the next ride.

Now we need to try to figure out the first in america thing and what kind of model is it? is it something new or is it just a big youngstar?

legoerosion

I think it's worth giving some credit to Swooosh/MidwestInfoGuide for the very early rumors about it being themed towards the ozarkian daredevil society, with the whole new land being called Daredevil Falls

WhatsNew

I think this will be a good addition for the park overall. Of course, I'd love another thrill ride but it would've been hard for them to make it another couple of years without a family-friendly coaster.

The theming around the ride seems great and I'm excited to see how it adds to the overall vibe of that side of the park. And hooray for a path between Wildfire and Powder Keg!

This announcement made me realize that it's been a bit since they added a flat ride to the lineup. Would the most recent be the Fireman's Landing area? I'd be interested to see them flush out some of these coaster-heavy areas of the park with a themed flat.

Hellbender

My initial reaction: underwhelming.

Here's where I'm at:

First, this is the right thrill level for the park. Of course an intense multi-looper or hyper would be fun, but this park is all about families and it's hard for "America's #1 theme park" with a theme based on an 1880s mining town without a mine coaster. It makes sense.

Here's what disappoints me:

This looks to be a pretty standard coaster. Yes, the track is lightly themed. Yes, I'm sure it will be glass smooth. And yes, SDC is very good at marketing. But, at the end of the day, what are we really looking at here for the guest experience? They clear-cut all the trees to create a giant flat pad to be filled with a fairly generic steel coaster track running back and forth. Layout-wise, there is nothing here that Arrow wasn't doing back in the 80s. At least Thunderation uses the natural terrain. Here the steel supports appear to be doing all the work.

No signature moments. Modern SDC loves their gimmicks. Consider:
- Outlaw Run (wood coaster with loops)
- Time Traveler (looping coaster that spins)
- Mystic River Falls (rapids ride with a vertical lift and drop)

What's the signature moment on this ride? With Mack involved, I was hoping for some Voltron-style tricks like a bounce track (imagine simulating a mine shaft about to collapse), turntable/launch sequence (coast down into the mine, turnaround and blast out). Or even some layout inspiration from Grizzly Gulch at Hong Kong Disneyland with a mild backwards sequence. Nope. Two lift hills, drops, curves through retaining walls, a small wooden tunnel. Nothing that simulates being in a cave from what I can see.

Theming looks light. Yes, the huge mine tower is very cool and very impressive. But if there is more here, there wasn't much revealed beyond that. For all the bluster about backstory and theme, all the hype about exploring down in the mine, there is no mine. I'm sure there will a covered queue box with big fans and some art on the walls. The same standard as Time Traveler, Mystic River, and the new Fire in the Hole. But compare that to Wildfire's queue.

This feels like Powder Keg light. Thrill-wise, I'm great with that. Theming-wise and quality-wise, this is just another coaster.

SDC has gotten very good at storytelling and marketing, but the actual product and experience feels hollow to me. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm sure the ride will be popular. Maybe this is all it needs to be, but it just stings a little when the park prides itself as being so much better than everywhere else, and they bait their fans into thinking this will be more special than what it appears to be. But again, I'd love to be proven wrong on this.

MidwestInfoGuide

Fun announcement ceremony.  Definitely their best one so far (and we've attended them all since PowderKeg).

Enjoying lunch right now.  Quite the spread.  Not much to see on the construction tour.  They are doing interviews in the station right now.

And finally congrats to hollijo for being the first to post what the ride was going to be. I'm sure a lot us knew you were right, but we couldn't just come right out and say it at the time.

You worded all of my feelings here perfectly. As I feared, this is yet another replacement low capacity ride with nothing truly groundbreaking. Thoosies will obviously be disappointed, but it will be great for milking trailblazer sales.

I have struggled with this feeling since FITH2 opened but with all the nostalgia elements slowly getting removed one by one, (Flooded Mine WILL be next) there's little that keeps me coming back. (which is bizarre in itself when the park was built around nostalgia of times past) I havent given WOF my money in a few years and I think I may start doing that again. At least they are trying to keep their existing attractions around.

I have a feeling everyone will be quite pleased with 2029/30
