Rope drop early on one side?

So last time I was at the park, I had our route mapped out in my head.  As soon as they did the Pledge and dropped the rope, we RAN for Outlaw Run... only to discover that one of the ropes (the one on the far right if the Hospitality House is behind you) was dropped early and the line was already past the pizza place.  :'(

What's up with this?!  Is this a normal thing?  Did a guest, perhaps, drop the rope early and nobody was there to put it back up?  Or are they now dropping one of the ropes early (which, by the way, seems abhorrently unfair!  >:()

Sounds like a fluke. Sometimes they don't have enough people to watch every rope and some over excited or impatient guest drops it or jumps it and runs down the hill. There is one in every crowd. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

Yeah, one person, I can understand.  But the line was SO long that the rope had to have been dropped for a considerable amount of time (this was day 2 of the season, so March).  I was extremely surprised that this happened, but considering how long the line was when we got there (and I was literally the first post-rope-drop person there).

Since it was on day 2 of the season, could it have been on a day when they invited VIPs to ride Outlaw Run? Sounds to me like they maybe had let in a special group to have ride time before the park opened.

No... so once in line, we asked people how they got there so fast and they said that one of the ropes was down so they just went down.

someone dropped the rope, obvioulsy waas not an employee there to "maintain discipline"..LOL

There is no end to what people will do...We live in a society where the overwhelming philosophy is that it is all about me, me, me without regard to what is right or respectful of others...sorry to hear about your bad experience...thankfully this does not describe the clientale of the ol' SDC Fans website which is why this is such an enjoyable sight to be part of...

It was just surprising to me that this wasn't caught and that SO MANY people had been able to go down.  And yet there was a group of about 4 SDC employees standing in a group talking by the ice cream shop.  ::)

If it did occur around the opening on Outlaw Run, it may have been some special group or some unusual reason that they were lined up early. They held several promotions, and had a coaster enthusiast special one weekend, there was a media day and there were several contests held to see who would be among the early riders of the coaster...so it could have been something in connection with that.

Hi! I don't know anything about the ropes being dropped early or not, but this weekend is also part of "Season Pass Holder Appreciation Days", where guests with season passes were able to get past the ropes and ride rides starting at 8:30 a.m.   I got down to Outlaw Run at 8:40 with almost no line, and by the time I came around for my second ride the line had already increased quite a bit.  That number of pass holders already in line probably contributed to an unusually long line already formed when you arrived. I hope your next trip to SDC is less frustrating!

No worries. :)

Hopefully we don't start seeing things at SDC like DisneyWorld is dealing with where people are hiring disabled people to get them to the front of the line...of course I don't know if SDC has a program like that anyway...

The scam at Disney would not work at SDC because SDC grants you equal access, not right away boarding. You still have to wait the entire wait time at SDC, they give you a time to come back. Looks like Disney could learn something from our 53 year old "Hole in the ground"... You see what I did there?
