Will anyone go to the fireworks show this year at SDC? Will it be a show to rival other fireworks shows or just a mediocre attempt to keep patrons in the park? Will it be so crowded ya cant get to echo hollow for some prime seating? Or will the shooting be in echo hollow with all that nice dry wood?

I'd expect a pretty decent fireworks show, but nothing like Disney or anything spectacular like that. And expect there to be heavy heavy crowds for sure.

with the 4th on a wed this, not a chance we will be there

I'll be in town that week, but there are so many things going on and choices, that I'm not sure what we'll do yet.  We always went to the Landing, but switched it up last year and went to Big Cedar.  THAT WAS FUN!!  The Landing is great, but the parking is h*ll and nearly impossible.  If SDC is putting on a good show, I'll try that one this year.  Zephon, don't you work for the City?  Can you give us an idea what to expect?

MissinTheGreenTrams

I want to go, but if its just a mediocre attempt then I will stay home. I love the city dont get me wrong, I just......I dont know. I dont want to go fight a repeat Easter Egg hunt kind of crowd and get cruddy under the tree seats ya know....

It's my understanding that there will be a 15 minute fireworks display.  The Echo show will start at 7:30 that night (normal start is at 7:00), and the fireworks will coincide with the end of the show in some way, so that would put it at around 9pm, give or take.  Fifteen minutes is not long compared to some of the other fireworks events happening around town, but still, it's quite a substantial financial outlay for SDC.  I don't know how much money they've put into it but I heard they spent 3+ grand on the display at the end of the 50th anniversary celebration in Echo a couple years ago and that one lasted just about a minute.  I'm hoping that guests will support the event and show up for it.

Thanks, Zephon! I think we will check out the parking, and if we can get in w/o too much trouble we will go.  I read somewhere that they are offering $30.00 tickets to enter after five.  I think that's great for families that can't afford full price tickets.  All the boats at the Landing and the Spirit of America are sold out for the 4th.

My last experience at the Landing on the 4th wasn't a great one:  three 40-50 somethings sitting in front of us were buying drinks at Waxy's and dumping them in to-go cups.  They were so drunk they could barely stand (one ended up in my lap until my hubs shoved her off at which point she became angry.)  It was so crowded we were pinned in.  I mostly felt sorry for the young family next to us who's little kids had to listen to their mouths and watch them dance knocking into everyone.

Slightly OT, but does anyone know if all the fireworks displays in Branson are on Wednesday this year?

Yeah I saw that. We're not going to get down there until late Wednesday evening so I doubt we'll get to watch any. Was hoping someone would be doing them the following weekend.

@Larson, how late Wednesday?  The Chateau doesn't seem to start until it's really dark.  You might have time to drive over towards the dam and catch them.  Or, last year on our way home after the fourth, we saw them all along Interstate 44.  It was pretty cool.

thelarsonsix

Probably 8-830. Don't think we'll have time to get over to the City, park, get in, find a spot, etc. We're staying @ Compton Ridge so I was hoping that we could see Chateau's from there, or at least some of it. We used to be able to see most of the fireworks from CC when they were still open, and I'm pretty sure Chateau is a bit higher up.
