On Friday, May 11th, the line to get into see the show at the Opera House extended all the way back to the Tintype Shop!

My parents were there the same day.

They said at one time, the line was all the way up to the furniture store!!

You have a great past just ahead of you.

I can believe that, because we were there the day before and were going to see The Links at The Riverfront Playhouse.  The line just for that was past the Dockside Theatre.  I can just imagine what it was like to see Rhonda Vincent.

Bluegrass and BBQ is one of my favorite festivals. My grandpa was in a bluegrass band wayyyyyyy back in the day, he started when he was a teenager, and he would have been 83 next month. (You do the math), so of course us grandkids were raised on bluegrass, so Bluegrass and BBQ is a bittersweet time.

When my dad's side gets together, we all meet up at Grandma & Grandpa's house (they are both gone, but the house won't sell, and its a meet-in-the-middle place since everyone lives in different towns). My uncle BBQs and has the radio on the porch tuned into a bluegrass/classic country station. My cousin, Kayla, my sister, and I always try to recreate Grandma's homemade lemonade recipe. Of course it never tastes right, but its still somewhat drinkable. My aunt always brings donut holes from Bandana's BBQ, which taste exactly like funnel cakes. And sometimes big trucks go down the road past the house and sorta sounds like a rollercoaster, so we have our own little Bluegrass & BBQ festivals all the time :)

My husband and I were there Friday. We saw all 3 of Rhonda's shows but we timed it just right in that we didn't wait more than 30 minutes for any of them. Jarrett Dougherty, the comedian of Pierce Arrow, participated in Rhonda's first show on Friday and her mother participated in 3rd show.
We saw Nothin' Fancy, New Town, Sons of the Silver Dollar,  and the Bluegrass Martins.

Went back Sunday and saw Nothin' Fancy twice. Also saw Pure Heart, Horsecreek Band (weird to see the group without Arky playing the bass fiddle :(), Flatt Lonesome, and Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers. Won't ever go back to see Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers -- we don't like jokes about folks contemplating suicide.

Dockside Theater is designated Front Porch Fellowship so the groups are all gospel.

Also, saw new saloon show characters near the saloon -- a new saloon girl and a new Fabian.  Twice we saw the lady begging for folks to come in for the saloon show well after the doors had opened.

Warning, if you sit in the first 4 rows of seats in Red Gold, you will have your hearing damaged.  Speakers are extremely loud so that the music will carry throughout the dining area behind the rows of seats. We didn't eat but the food looked good. Dickey's BBQ of Nixa was one of the vendors this year.

Free sample at the Taffy shop on Sunday was peanut butter and banana.

And more locations to get Icees are popping up around the park.

I liked the new actress for Miss Belle (I think she's the one who's new). I didn't mind the new Fabian, but I really think last year's Fabian was the best, though he's great as Bart (because he's just really awesomely talented, period).

I have seenthis as well a few times this year. And not on days the park was slow, I wonder if people are losing interest in the show?

While you and I may be able to hold our brews, some people can't.  Since it's a family park, I like it.  Boy as soon as we leave though, off to the pub.

So...did anybody see the band "Driven" this weekend at the Single Mic Championships? They are from Colby, Kansas and host the Pickin On The Plains bluegrass festival. I saw them last year and they are awesome...
