What's That?
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:16:02 PM »
What is the platform in the middle of Lake Silver?  I took a picture, but can't seem to upload it yet.  The platform is about 5' x 5', is white, and has a ladder extending below the surface.  It is anchored by guy wires to the lake floor.

Nope, this appears to be something new.

Here is a page I threw together with the photos on it.  Click the photos to see them correctly.  I know it's not the best way to show you, but it'll do for now.

Interesting. It's definitely designed so that somebody can come up out of the water and stand on it. The question is, why are there people swimming around the lake, and why do they need a platform to stand on? The only reasons I can think of have to do with them sending divers into the lake to investigate the integrity of the various lakeside structures.

Hmmm. I don't know. Some kind of dive platform seems like a good guess, or maybe they're going to erect something on it for OTC. They've done stuff like that before. Maybe I can ask around.

I'd have to go with what Zephon tells us. I know it was not in the lake the last time I was on park in June. Hmmm, maybe they are searching for that old diving bell that was wrecked and lost at the bottom of the lake in 1984!

If I remember correctly, there is a lighted christmas tree out on the lake during OTC. I'm not sure if this is what it sits on or not.
