Thanks for the crowd info, How-Do. I was wondering what the count was for Saturday, after seeing the smaller parking lots being used, plus all the school buses, plus the tour buses. The crowds were insane due to all the teens. I felt like I was getting a preview of what YCW must be like, LOL.

wiht the crowd that we have seen so far, I cant help but to think that it looks like SDC will have another very good year.

We went to SDC today and was riding the train when something happened that I was told has only happened twice in the last 7 years.  The train broke down!  It happened at the spot where they do the skit.  We knew something was wrong because they kept going on and on with the skit and a lot of adlibbing.  They finally told us what was going on and let the train roll down to the hobo area where they said it would be easiest to evacuate the train.

Went row by row with ladders to get everyone off the train.

Park peremedics were there in case someone was injured.

How many maintenance workers does it take to fix a train?

A lot of nice people from behind the scenes at SDC who were there to talk to us.

Two buses were brought in to take us out.

A complimentary ticket for our trouble valued at $20.00 for ice cream at Hanna's Ice Cream Parlor.  Quite an experience for Friday the 13th.

wow! bad break!  " no pun intended",  But that would make for an interesting expierence.  the ice cream is a nice touch.

This stuff with the train happens from time to time. I remember an incident or two in the early 80s when the train derailed. It did not turnover...it did not result in any injuries. It simply came off the track. The good neighbor policy thing was not available at the time. I seem to remember people were escorted along the tracks until they made it back to "civilization" (SDC) again.

Your right Sanddunerider it would have been a bad break for someone with a one day pass and this was going to be the only day they could be there.  Because we were probably out there for about an extra hour.  But for us it was kind of like a behind the scenes tour, something we don't get to see or experience very often (We Loved It) and of course the citizens of SDC could not have been nicer.

Ya Junior, just guessing I would have figured they break down at least a few times a year with all the miles they log.  When one of the office workers told us she had worked there 7 years and this was the second time she could remember this happening I was pretty surprised.  This seemed to me like such a minor thing but SDC went all out, maybe because of the trouble with Ride The Ducks and The Branson Belle.

sanddunerider

tru enough, But I am sure if somebody had a one day pass, and "expressed" there concerns the PTB would set them up for another day!.   OR at least I would hope they would. :)
