I hope all you people in the st louis area are all right and missed the bad storms last night.. :)

Sorry to hear about the terminal at Lambert/St. Louis airport. When I was a kid, my family lived in Hazelwood not far from the airport. I remember my dad taking my brother and me to the terminal, and seeing that old model of the building of terminal one, with the working cranes. It was pretty neat. Last I heard, it was still in the terminal. Plus, dad would park our car at the end of the runway and we would sit for an hour or so and have those jets fly right over head. There was a spot on Lindburgh Road where you could park right by the runway landing lights. Childhood memories!

As i said earlier, it is never good when the storm chasers are on your highway. There was a total of 7 tornadoes last night the closest one came through by us but it was only an EF1. That is nothing in comparison to rhe EF4 that hit the airport and the surrounding areas. I was born in hazelwood/ N. StL and loved the parking lot you are talking about Junior. It was such a unique fun Place that was removed during the airport expansion. The Wright bros. Flew there, T. Roosevelt flew there being the first president to fly, And obviously Lindbergh are all historical aspects of the airport. The news images of the Airport show the damage to the windows and the green four domed design were prominent features in the airport scenes from The movie Trains Planes and Automobiles, as well as Up In The Air.

Thunderstorms throughout the region last few days. A few tornadoes in Oklahoma and just south in Arkansas. Hail. Hopefully the bad weather will move on in a few more days.

"Branson spokesman Jerry Adams said 15 people who live on the edge of Lake Taneycomo have been evacuated, as have people staying in the popular tourist town's camper park. "

I wonder if that is the park down by the old riverfront? where the landing is now?

just heard about tornadoes in arkansas..... hope everyone is ok there..

DollarCityBoy

Tornado's were bad here in Arkansas. We are in the Little Rock area. Some flooding in the neighbors yard across the street, and debres in the yards. Our lights flickered several times, but surrounding neighborhoods have power outages. Hot Springs Village has a lot of damage, and several homes destroyed.
You have a great past just ahead of you.

Down at the Landing, it is pretty much closed. The shops/restaurants on the lower boardwalk for sure. It is waist deep to try to get to the White River/Bass Pro place, if you watched tonights news pretty good photos there (Lance hasn't worked in 3 days, maybe the rest of the week). Propane tanks are under water there as well. They did release gates from Table Rock today (All 10 which is unusual). Break for tonight till tomorrow night then rain again. Haven't seen this since 2008! Get your floaties and noodles, can pretty much water slide down the roads here. :D I do hope everyone is safe that is in the danger zones.

In case you have not heard:
QuoteA 40-yard section of topsoil collapsed and slid down the north side of Table Rock Lake Dam today, prompting state highway officials to close the road that crosses the dam.

QuoteThe highway is closed from the entrance to the Showboat Branson Belle on the south side of the dam and the Route 265/165 intersection near the Chateau on the Lake entrance on the north side of the dam.

Saw some shots of Branson flooding on KYTV Springfield, MO TV website. Awesome shots of the open gates on the dam. I really thought the Branson Landing developers would have done a better job of building up the site to prevent it from flooding like that.

I don't know if a lot of people know this but when first planning the Branson Landing, you could go the the town meetings and voice views on the development (majority of locals were against the project). Well during those meeting the developers "promised" there would never be any threat from flooding that they had thought it through and ensured measures would be taken........guess not! Since we've moved here in 2008, it has happened twice now.  :-\
