I spy myself and my family in a few of the construction photos. 👀

This was by far the best produced event that SDC has put on. From the theming in the theater, to the brunch area, and all of the miners around the construction area, it was top notch.

I know our family is super excited for it. It is the perfect fit and importantly, it will attract more families that will also want to stay at the resort. Not sure there could have been a better ride choice to open along with the resort.

They are going to put in a coaster like Dollywood's Big Bear Mountain except maybe not as long, but a smooth family coaster.

Thunderation's days are numbered, unfortunately, but it is hard for them to maintain.

Great point on this being a good choice of attraction to bundle with the new resort. "Come stay at our brand new resort and ride our newest coaster with the whole family." Pretty good way to kick things off for the next season, especially when you compare it to the Universal Kids Resort in Texas that was a big disappointment in terms of theming and attraction lineup for the general public.

There was a moment in the presentation where Brad was naming off cities, and they all were in the mid-America region if I remember correctly. They've got their eyes on the regional market that can't make a trip to Orlando or California every year, but they can make a drive to SDC for an annual family vacation. I can imagine that SDC is/will be making a bigger push to cement themselves as the premiere Midwest theme park going forward as the bigger parks start experimenting in our region. I'm sure that will result in a greater focus on family attractions with some stronger thrills mixed in on occasion, which isn't a bad thing. They have to do what makes sense financially at the end of the day to keep their main customers coming back, and this seems like an appropriate fit.

The 1st in the States comment definitely raised my hopes.  This meh coaster should have been themed to a Universal or Disney level judging by the hype the SDC marketing department created.  I guess it fills a need, but they sure made it look like an exciting coaster, which it is not.  I just hope with this bland layout they will finally theme a coaster to the level of "the best theme park in America" cause so far, that is a massive joke.

Agree that marketing needs to really chill out with the hyperbole.

Disagree that this won't be an exciting coaster. Just because it's a Youngstar model doesn't mean it won't pull forces. I prefer rides that rip your face off, but these modern family coasters are just fun. Vekoma's got it down. Mack is sure to make them nervous.

I don't believe this is a straight up Youngstar model. It's been reported as a prototype model for Mack. It looks similar to Youngstar, but could technically be a new model.

The trains and running rails look like a pretty exact match. It's the cross tie decoration underneath the track that makes it different. I think it should feel pretty similar to the other Youngstars we have in the US.

Dude I have been a season pass holder all my life.  I absolutely love SDC, but it is an absolute joke for it to be "the best theme park in America".  It is not even in the ballpark with theming compared to Universal or Disney.  If they truly want to be the best, then quit cheaping out on theming

I don't want SDC to be on the same level as Universal/Disney.  I don't want the crowds that they have.  I don't want Trailblazers to be mandatory.  SDC  is more quaint and relaxing than the above mentioned parks.  It is way more affordable than them.  We've had Season Passes the last 46 years.  We love SDC the way it is.  I really love the look of MME.  I think it will be very popular (and maybe help keep the lines from getting too crazy at the other coasters.  Especially FITH).

While this ride is a letdown for thoosies, its necessary for the park with TNT going away. I stopped riding TNT a few years ago because its was just too rough for me, so I'm glad we are getting a modern update. I am jealous of the ride Dollywood previewed today however. I love dark rides and simulators and Nightflight sounds incredible from the early reviews. If Dollywood can keep it running smooth with all the tech that ride has, it will be a huge hit for the park. Hopefully SDC can get a replacement for Flooded Mine with the same Mack rocking boat system.

We also quit riding TNT because it was killing us although we did ride once this spring. I am hopeful MME will be something we can ride and enjoy. I would love to see SDC have a new indoor ride.

Ultimately SDC's marketing department sucks.  They build up this anticipation of something spectacular, on the scale of the real best in America parks, and then give us this very meh mine train, not 1st of it's kind in the states, not heavily themed coaster

Agreed 100% the Rose Colored Glasses syndrome is quite strong with a lot of folks. This will be my last year I hold a pass until they follow thru with their hype and stop making inferior additions ripped from Rollercoaster Tycoon on a Friday Afternoon at the expense of a classic. (Flooded Mine will be next to share this fate) Vote with your wallet. WOF and SFOT will be getting more of my attention now. Tormenta looks pretty sweet and something like it would have worked well here at SDC. At least someone followed thru with adding a Giga. And huge respect to WOF for keeping Timberwolf around refurbishing it. (a ride OLDER than TNT)

Speaking of, this TNT replacement is also a laughable addition for hosting Coaster Con next year. They could have really knocked it out of the park with something epic but decided to play it safe with the bare minimum again. But hey this new low capacity kids coaster will serve its purpose in boosting trailblazer sales from the GP.

IT'S A FAMILY THEME PARK

I don't care if it's no ordinary family theme park that has thrill coasters it's still a family theme park

You also never know maybe their next coaster after this might be better in taste for you

A massive 15-story headframe towers overhead and the mine shaft beneath it is flooded. Water pours into the valley below, collecting in a rough-hewn pond. A weathered sign explains that the collapse sealed off the mine's inner passages.


Any ideas on what this might mean for The Flooded Mine?  Still on track for a FITH style rebuilt/replacement?   

Thoughts on what will go on the FITH 1.0 plot of land?

I know that's a company site, but that's pretty good. I like that they are returning to the idea of the outside loop between coasters instead of sticking with the one way in one way out stuff.

I'm ok with the marketing, after all, they have to talk it up. I think many YouTubers do worse with the A/B testing to see which click bait, over the top thumbnail will draw the most clicks. And many of these arguments aren't new. Wildfire and Powder Keg settled the dust kicked in up the late 90's. There is bound to be discontent. Can't make everyone happy.
